Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Simulator Technician maintains the flight simulator and support engineering staff with software and hardware updates to ensure the training devices are appropriately configured and meet Alaska Airlines (AS) training requirements. Scope & Complexity - This individual contributor role supports flight simulator technical needs for Alaska Airlines (AS). Key Duties - Maintains the flight simulator and support engineering staff with software and hardware updates to ensure the training devices are appropriately configured and meet Alaska Airlines (AS) training requirements. - Leverages understanding of aircraft procedures and systems to maintain simulators. - Assists in clearing of aircrew discrepancies, with guidance from the Director and/or engineers. - Reports all spares issues on the training devices to the Director and/or engineers. - Assists in routine maintenance per the preventative maintenance schedule. - Performs pre-flight tests of the training devices prior to the start of each training day. - Assists in troubleshooting and repairing of flight simulator systems. - Assist in the development of simulator maintenance processes and procedures. Job-Specific Skills & Education Required - A minimum of 2 years of industry experience. - Understanding of electronic theory and test equipment, including AC and DC circuits, digital circuits, DVM, oscilloscopes, etc. - Understanding of control loading and motion hydraulics and control loading and motion simulator systems, including motion platform operation, load unit operation, and HPU operation. - Familiar with the use of one of the following: FDF, HMON, RTMON, CTS. - Ability to use software utilities to test and troubleshoot training devices for general maintenance purposes. - Ability to read and demonstrated understanding of simulator and aircraft data from multiple vendors, including wiring diagrams, system diagrams, cable layouts, mechanical layouts, and parts lists. - Ability and willingness to work rotating shift work based on a 24/7 operation in a team environment. - Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening). - Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. - High school diploma or equivalent is required. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Understanding of aircraft systems and flight concepts, including aircraft avionics and aircraft handling. - An Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree, with a focus in or a related discipline.
