This job is a member of the Long Range Scheduling Team. American Airlines’ Network Planning team is at the center of the strategic direction and the everyday functioning of the world’s largest airline. We decide where we fly, how often and on what aircraft, with the goal of providing the most convenient and connected network for our customers. We work with teams across the company to create reliable and desirable schedules that provide maximum value to all stakeholders while generating sustainable long-term profitability.
Network Planning is hiring for an Analyst / Sr Analyst position on the Long Range Schedules team. Long Range Schedules is an analytical and strategic team responsible for collaborating with various departments in the company to build reliable and innovative airline schedule scenarios 1-to-5 years out that maximize company profitability. The team analyzes and presents recommendations around schedule attributes including fleet deployment, schedule operability, and schedule structures through ad-hoc projects and the construction of long-term schedule plans. The successful candidate has the ability to (a) creatively link analysis and scheduling fundamentals to develop aircraft flow for schedule scenarios, (b) manage projects to completion and to work collaboratively on multiple projects at one time, and (c) apply an understanding of airlines’ route networks and their application to an airline’s long-term vision and goals, and (d) collaborate with various groups both inside and outside of network planning to identify opportunities to create value through improving the schedule of the network.
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline: Operations Research, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent experience/training
- 2 years experience in airline Network Planning/Scheduling, Revenue Management or analytical field, or Master’s degree in a related field
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Graduate Degree
- 2 years experience in modeling, project management, and/or data manipulation at American Airlines
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Ability to solve complex problems and puzzles in a constrained and dynamic environment
- Ability to leverage understanding of the airline business and commercial goals to drive results and innovative solutions
- Ability to be adaptive to new ideas and business processes in an ever-changing marketplace
- Ability to challenge self and team to develop future-oriented network strategies
- Ability to communicate and collaborate, work with cross-functional groups to drive outcomes which benefit the entire airline
- Skilled at sharing knowledge to develop the expertise of the team as a whole
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Knowledge of AirVision Schedule Manager
