Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Manger, Flight Operations Training oversees all flight instructors, flight instructional designers, the administration of all pilot qualification flight training events, and the design and development of pilot courseware and support material for classroom and distance learning. Scope & Complexity - This position manages flight operations training activities for Alaska Airlines (AS). - Oversight of all ground instructors, to include management instructors and line pilot instructors to ensure the quality and compliance of the training product. Key Duties - Manages all flight instructors (e.g., management, temporary, and seniority-list flight instructors) in the implementation of aircraft fight training programs. - Manages the Ground Training team, consisting of flight operations instructional systems designers and flight courseware developer/instructors to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approved Advance Qualification Program (AQP) pilot training. - Designs curriculum and courseware in coordination with Manager, AQP. - Conducts training events as an instructor in ground school or in simulators. - Analyzes flight operations data and job tasks. - Analyzes pilot tasks and post-training results to determine learning needs and performance gaps. - Supervises the administration of qualification and continuing qualification flight training events. - Provides subject matter expertise for the development and maintenance of flight training event briefing guides and courseware for the Manager, Ground Training & Courseware development. - Provides flight instructor subject matter expertise, input, and recommendations to the Director, Flight Training and others. - Oversees the Learning Management System (LMS), and determines classroom instruction and distance learning web/mobile needs/solutions. Job-Specific Skills & Education Required - A minimum 6 years of supervisory and/or leadership experience. - A minimum 6 years of adult learning, instructional system design theory, training content design and development, and/or content management experience. - Multi-crew aircraft flight instruction and flight experience, with commercial aircraft systems, functions, and operational procedures. - Demonstrated knowledge of 14 CFR 61, 91, and 121, including Subpart Y (Advanced Qualification Program). - Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate FAA Advisory Circulars, Orders, Handbooks, and TSA guidance, specifically those related to Pilot Certification, AQP, Line Oriented Scenarios, Crew Resource Management (CRM), Low Weather Minimums Program, Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) ETOPS, and TSA Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program (AOSSP). - Demonstrated knowledge of stand-alone and web-based learning management systems, with technological solutions for classroom training (e.g., virtual simulators, multi-media platforms, etc.). - Demonstrated skills and experience with web-based courseware authoring tools. - Knowledge of learning theories and teaching methods. - Ability to assess trainee performance and to direct appropriate methods to fit the situation. - Effective team leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team and to set individual and team goals. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - 1 year of Part 121 Airline experience. - Airline Transport Pilot, Boeing 737-type rating. - Knowledge of B-737 aircraft systems and operational procedures. - A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in instructional system design, adult education, or a related discipline. - A Master of Arts or a Master of Science degree, with a focus in business administration or a related discipline.
