This job is a member of the Corporate Affairs Team within the Airport Affairs & Facilities Division.They will be responsible for the planning, programming, design and implementation of automated baggage handling systems (BHS), in-line bag screening sub-systems, inbound baggage systems and mail sortation systems in accordance with AA’s standard specifications for baggage handling systems.

What you'll do
  • Development of project planning documents including but not limited to alternative system configurations and preliminary project budgets and schedules for consideration by upper management
  • American’s interface and representative with outside agencies including Airport authorities and Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
  • Interface with internal departments and user groups at field locations
  • Directly responsible for oversight and management of approved project budgets and schedules
  • Directly responsible for oversight and management of outside engineers, consultants and contractors
  • Preparation of Requests for Qualifications, Requests for Proposal and Contractor Bid Solicitations 
  • Evaluation and selection of outside consultants, venders and contractors
  • Preparation of contract documents
  • Contract negotiations with consultants, contractors and venders/suppliers
  • Uses project management principles and practices to coordinate and manage the activities of multiple groups including headquarters departments, field user groups, consultants, contractors, venders/suppliers, TSA and airport authorities
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in project management involving the planning, programming, design and implementation of automated baggage sortation systems

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Thorough understanding of TSA’s Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS)

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Working knowledge of automated sortation controls systems and principles
  • Working knowledge and understanding of baggage systems electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the competitive bidding, contract negotiations and contract award processes
  • Working knowledge of contract preparation and development including design services, stipulated sum and time & material type contracts
  • Thorough understanding of TSA’s Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS)
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to travel
