- This job is a member of the IT Enterprise Team within the Information Technology Division.
- Responsible for coaching and mentoring teams and being the go-to expert on DevOps and Lean Agile/Product Management methods and best practices for the enterprise
· Recognizes organizational challenges at different levels in the organization and desires to influence and address with ALL levels of management.
· Demonstrated ability to be a change agent to help lead the cultural and organizational change of moving from project to products.
· Be a change agent that helps enable and influence a learning culture.
· Knowledge of customer centricity, lean product management, and innovation ways of working
· Education and enable Product Owners and Product Managers in product discovery, product strategy, fiduciary responsibilities, and execution with technology teams to solve problems
· Experience in facilitation, teaching, and gamification to help product teams in Lean Product Discovery, Continuous Grooming, Product Strategy & Roadmap, OKRs, Customer Empathy, Prioritization, Experimentation, Definition of Done and Ready, Discovery Sprints, etc.
· Ability to evaluate a product team operational health (e.g. team dynamics, agile delivery, product awareness) to identify opportunity for improvements, and help these teams mature their ways of working and grow using an agile/product and devops mindset.
· Experience with product @ scale, managing stakeholders, feedback, risks, and dependencies
· Be a hands-on Lean Agile/Product and DevOps coach, accelerating the learning of a Product Mindset, Agile, and DevOps practices across American Airlines
· Delivers a training program that aligns with the DevOps Transformation strategic direction
· Educates assigned teams on the best use of DevOps/Agile/Product Management tools, advises on design, development and deployment processes to ensure best practices, and helps drive toward platform automation
· Leads the Dojo/Hangar agile and DevOps practice, which is a highly accelerated rapid 2.5 day sprint cycle focused on driving accelerated learning of Agile and DevOps practices
· Encourages and promotes good engineering practices like Unit testing, code reviews, pair programming and quality engineering practices as well requirements capturing techniques to the teams to improve end to end delivery practices
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering
- Four or more years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 4+ years of product management experience working with technology teams
- 3+ years of experience using Lean Agile/Product and DevOps practices
- 2+ years in Product @ Scale (e.g. SAFe, Scrum @ Scale)
- 2+ years in design thinking or UX Design
- 3+ years facilitating large audiences at all levels
- Experience working as a Software Engineer or a Development Manager
- 3 + years of application development experience
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Must exhibit high emotional intelligence and a desire to collaborate with everyone. Be a missionary vs. mercenary approach to teams and work.
- Certifications desired SAFe POPM, APSM, or LPM or other product related qualifications
- Certifications a plus in Kanban, Scrum, Lean Start Up, etc.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work across the organization, excellent synthesizing and organization skills, a professional demeanor and the ability to participate in a team environment are key to this position
- Requires a mastery of understanding of Lean Agile values, principles and practices and candidates must be continuous learning, open to pivoting and learning new things. The candidate must be willing to obtain an in-depth understanding of the organization's business and technology portfolios. The successful candidate we seek must have a demonstrable track record of achieving success in previous work situations.
- Effectively aligns team members, stakeholders, and executives around a shared set of objectives to solve a problem to ship fast and learn through feedback
- Demonstrated ability working with scaling organization, products and teams
- Deep user empathy and strong user experience skills (e.g. design thinking)
- Action oriented individual who has strong decision making skills, self-motivated owner of multiple tasks and accountable to deliverables
- Facilitate workshops involving design thinking, continuous product discover and development, writing user stories, backlog management, and other lean agile ways of working.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with database systems, API architecture, Cloud infrastructure
- Deep understanding of more than one Agile flavor such as Scrum, XP, Kanban, Lean, Nexus, DevOps, SAFe, etc.
- Experience with implementing and operating DevOps and Agile tools/platforms across some part of the development lifecycle
- These could include but may not be limited to Pivotal Cloud Foundry, GitHub, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, Hygeia, SonarQube, New Relic, JIRA, Confluence, Rally, etc.
- Familiarity and experience with agile engineering practices like Test Automation, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), DevOps, etc.
