The Director, Architecture Technology Fellow is responsible for aligning and influencing executives and other key stakeholders on technology direction, architecture, and strategy. This leader will steer a change to the engineering culture across all of American Airlines IT and will be required to work with leaders and engineers at all levels of the organization to bring this strategy to life.
This position will leverage her/his diverse skillset capabilities, strategic thinking, leadership and communication acumen, and will provide a wide range of critical capabilities, to enable the long-range initiatives and objectives in the organization.

- Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience/training; Master’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- 7 years of experience at the Director/Chief Architect level and a recognized technology strategist
- Ability to engage, inspire, and mobilize the engineering community
- Experience establishing and leading enterprise architecture and technology strategy across large, complex enterprise
- Experience building and delivering large scale engineering platforms that can be leveraged to accelerate software development and delivery (API Management, Event Streaming, Cloud, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Ability to engage, inspire, and influence engineers and architects at all level to build alignment and support for technology changes
- Expertise in a wide variety of automation techniques and approaches. Ability to code in multiple development languages
- Ability to build and facilitate long-term relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to effectively and clearly communicate a strategic vision and tactical vision to all levels within the organization
- Ability to communicate complex, technical topics to a wide variety of audiences
- Ability and willingness to interact with senior management and influence decision-makers, embracing ambiguity and enabling clarity
