Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Associate Product Designer role solves design and usability problems for our digital guest-facing experiences in the context of the end-to-end guest journey at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role focuses on developing interactive solutions across web, mobile app, kiosk and other digital mediums, that are clearly identified as well as grounded in the problem space. Key Duties - Collaborate in helping define the problem to solve and apply a forward-thinking, strategic mindset to go from where we are today to the vision state. - Apply user-centered design best practices, from interaction design, information architecture and usability fundamentals to accessibility standards, balancing user needs with business goals and technology capabilities. - Assist in designing and produce guest flows and feature experiences that provide a clear path forward for guests to achieve their goals across channels and platforms. - Produce deliverables and artifacts such as feature flows, use cases, guest pathing, interaction models, wireframes, prototypes and presentations. - Regularly contributing to our design system by collaborating with other designers to inform the design language for Alaska?s digital solutions. - Collaborate with User Experience (UX) Research and User Interface (UI) Design and actively participate in design reviews. - Communicate effectively to diverse audiences including team members and fellow designers. - Participate in product strategy, feature reviews and sprint rituals in coordination with Developers, Scrum Masters, other Designers and Product Owners. - Design inclusively in full consideration for guests of different abilities and in compliance with applicable accessibility requirements. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required - Bachelor?s degree with a focus in Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, User Experience, Product Design, Interactive Design or other related field, or 2 years of experience in product design or related area, lieu of this degree - Strong portfolio showcasing design skills that demonstrate critical thought process, digital cross platform experience and how product design adds business value. - Intermediate to high level skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, latest design tools and demonstrated ability in creating shared understanding in cross-functional teams. - Knowledge of lean, agile product delivery, MVP, optimization tests and workflow tracking tools such as JIRA, VersionOne, etc. - Understanding of user centered design best practices, cross-browser compatibility, UI patterns across platforms and designing inclusively for guests of all abilities. - Contribute to a culture of design thinking, guest advocacy, accountability and collaboration through independent contribution and consulting as a subject matter expert. - Working knowledge of rapid prototyping technologies for feedback and iteration to show product flows, facilitate shared understanding and directly collect guest feedback. - High school diploma or equivalent is required. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to enhance both customer and employee satisfaction. - Active listener who values diverse perspectives and fosters an inclusive environment. - Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive outcomes in the best interest of the company. - Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with other teams and workgroups. - E-commerce or product design agency experience - Experience in UI Design and leveraging motion, animation and transitions to reinforce clarity, usability & brand. - Knowledge of web- and mobile-based technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. - Copywriting skills including UI copy, microcopy and calls-to-action. - Detailed oriented, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to cope with conflicts caused by competing priorities. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook) - Balance of visual and data-driven mindset with a proven history of continuous self-development.
