  • This job is a member of the Safety Environmental Regulatory Compliance & Integration Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • Responsible for supporting American Airlines system wide safety initiatives in the pursuit of safety excellence and the prevention of accidents and injuries.

What you'll do

  • Assists local leaders in cultivating and maintaining a safety culture as established by senior leadership
  • Assists the Safety Manager to determine the most efficient way to enhance safety communication to both internal and external customers with regards to safety at the station
  • Mentors/subject matter expert/resource for frontline management and frontline team members
  • Communicates and interacts frequently with station leadership and frontline internal and external workgroups
  • Performs and/or supports employee injury and aircraft damage events and associated investigations
  • Prepares safety related communications for local and system distribution
  • Conducts various audits, observations and support station risk assessments
  • Compiles, analyzes, and delivers reports and presentations on safety-related data and information for station leadership and stakeholders including senior leaders
  • Requires working outside in a ramp operations environment sometimes exposed to extreme weather elements
  • On-call response during off scheduled work hours may be required on short notice
  • Some travel may be required on short notice

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/training, prefer safety or aviation-specific education
  • At least 4 years airline operations/customer service work experience and/or safety-related experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and applications within airline/airport work areas
  • Highly honed communication and time management skills
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge of airline/airport operations
  • Excellent supervisory/management capabilities
