If you share our passion for creating an airline people love, we want to hear from you. **Role Summary** The SMS Program Manager is a subject matter expert in Safety Management Systems at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Horizon Air (QX). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions in the implementation and administration of our Safety Management Systems and provide recommendations to address safety concerns, hazards and risk throughout the operation. **Key Duties** + Supports corporate and divisional Safety Management System (SMS) procedures to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and compliance by facilitating Safety Risk Assessments, identifying hazards through Safety Assurance and Safety Risk Management, and maintaining positive working relationships with the FAA and internal stakeholders. + Leads cross-company/divisional SMS working groups to develop standardized procedures, tools, and share best practices for a robust SMS. + Develops, revises and maintains the AS/QX SMS Manual policies and procedures and provides SMS training and user support. + Creates reports, event analyses, and presentations for stakeholders to support audits, investigations, Safety Action Programs, and ad-hoc data reviews with leadership. + Manages stakeholder needs with IT and vendors to ensure SMS tools meet business needs. + Oversees safety reporting policy, SMS procedures, training development and administration, safety promotion, and continuous improvement of SMS. + Facilitates weekly safety review meetings and attends Divisional Analysis Group/Safety Review Board Meetings. **Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills** **Required** + 4 years of experience in a technical airline role that provided exposure to data relevant to SMS programs. + Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree. + Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) for all levels of the organization. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). + Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to confidently lead regular meetings which include members from the FAA, union(s), and company leadership. **Preferred** + FAA licensed pilot, dispatcher, or mechanic. + Prior management experience. + Aviation safety experience. + Knowledge of FAA SMS requirements, basic data collection points (ASAP, Flight Operations, SOC, FOQA, M&E, Crew Scheduling, Employee Injury Review System, Safety Hazard Reports, Employee Reporting System, etc.). + Knowledge of SMS and industry best practices, data and text analysis, statistical analysis, and risk analysis. **Job-Specific Leadership Expectations** Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be remarkable. **Total Rewards** + Competitive total rewards package + Medical, dental and vision benefits + 401k match program + Monthly incentive pay plan + Annual incentive pay plan + Generous paid time off and maternity / child-bonding leave + Travel privileges on Alaska Airlines & Horizon Air **FLSA Status** Exempt **Employment Type** Full-Time **Regular/Temporary** Regular **Equal Employment Opportunity** Horizon Air and Alaska Airlines are equal opportunity employers.
