This position reports to the Manager, Leadership Development, and is responsible for designing, managing and delivering our targeted development strategy for top talent, emerging leaders and critical diversity programs. This role collaborates closely with American’s Talent Management, People Business Partners and People Analytics teams; in addition to senior leaders and external partners.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for working with others to develop and implement strategies, programs, and technologies that best educate and help prepare leaders and team members to achieve business results.
  • Participate in, and/or lead the design, construction, implementation, delivery, and analysis of learning solutions that support top talent and targeted leadership development.
  • Consult with business units/leaders to assess needs, recommend development solutions, then design and deliver targeted leadership programs, evaluate and measure effectiveness and impact, and track participants progress.
  • Administer and oversee programs working to continuously improve current offerings by monitoring programs and advising of needed curriculum updates or suggested improvements. Manages all vendor relationships and acts to assure quality service is being provided.
  • Responsible to create, own and manage the program, including coordination of delivery of learning programs including all logistics:
    • classroom assignments
    • communication with participants
    • pre-work coordination and post-work sustainment
    • potential supporting plans and pathways in Degreed and LMS
    • management of assessments and reports
    • coordinating deliverables (Facilitator guides, participant guides, and all other program materials)
  • Ensures cross functional collaboration in all development programs by staying abreast of all leadership development initiatives and external coaching engagements.
  • Stays abreast of current trends in talent development with respect to development concepts, modalities and program initiatives.
  • Acts as liaison with Campus and Learning Operations for targeted programs by providing all project management aspects for learning solutions (event planning, tracking of attendance in LMS, etc.).
  • Facilitate instructor-led training/meeting sessions as needed.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, organizational behavior, education, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in leadership development or talent management
  • Experience with diverse, targeted leadership development initiatives to build a strong leadership pipeline
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale programs simultaneously
  • Experience engaging and presenting with executive level professionals

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master, PHD or degree in organizational behavior, leadership development, education or related field
  • Prior experience with learning development, curriculum design, training methodologies, and online education
  • Prior experience facilitating and presenting to senior leadership at all organizational levels

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Education or certification in executive or performance coaching
  • Exceptional project management skills; ability to take the initiative anticipating and handling problems or incidents before they become major issues
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to see the big picture and implore strong judgment, decisiveness, and diplomacy skill
  • Energetic, forward-thinking and implementation focused
  • Proven ability to maintain highly confidential information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including facilitation/presentation skills; ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Comfortable working in a team-based environment;
  • Strong ability to build, develop, and maintain key relationships/partnerships
  • Ability to manage multiple, large scale projects with competing deadlines and in a face-paced work environment
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Good analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively operate in an environment of constant change and is flexible to adapt
