  • ​This job is a member of the IOC Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • ​Responsible for leading the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) transformational initiatives to replace the Flight Planning and Load Planning Systems. This job is also responsible for leading the IOC transformational initiatives to integrate an Operational Management System into the American Airlines application portfolio.

What you'll do

  • Uses business analysis techniques for gathering and documenting requirements, scoping, interviewing, facilitation, system component design, spend tracking, testing, and implementation
  • Works collaboratively with IOC Business Units and technical leads, development resources, finance, and external project teams to develop and implement solutions for operational issues
  • Manages the Business Technology Request (BTR) oversight from inception to implementation
  • Supports the finance approval process for projects under his/her supervision
  • Provides on-call support of resulting products as needed
  • Interacts with leadership to help set project direction and determine project prioritization
  • Provides project status reports according to the information needs of the stakeholders
  • Manages 24/7 onsite support and after-hours on-call phones when necessary
  • Works closely with internal operational groups (such as Dispatch, Load Planning, Crew Scheduling) and AA IT Verticals in support of new initiatives, projects, applications, etc.
  • Coordinates IOC operational desktop application packaging, testing, and deployment as well as coordinating IT and Facility change notifications to the business
  • Acts as an IT Liaison for HP Desktop Support group
  • Manages the IOC backup site and failover strategy from an IT perspective
  • Represents IOC for desktop application submissions from both the business and internal IT verticals
  • Coordinates with Enterprise Desktop software deployments to IOC operational desktops
  • Acts as an IT point of contact for vendor applications used in the IOC and assist in coordinating application remediation after IT outages
  • Schedules, conducts and oversees product complex reviews and testing sessions with departmental subject matter experts and training personnel
  • Assists with development of training plans, curriculum and course-ware development
  • Engages and leads subject matter experts from other departments (Operations Engineering and Flight)
  • Supervises dispatchers that assist in development and presentation of training material
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
  • 3 years of experience utilizing or supporting Flight Operations Systems (FOS) Flight Planning, Crew Management, Maintenance, or Weight and Balance Systems
  • 3 years of experience using formal business analysis techniques
  • 3 years of experience managing applications using a variety of computing platforms (mainframe, client/server, etc.)
  • 3 years of experience converting high level business needs/requirements into technical system requirements, technical specifications, and developing detailed system diagrams
  • ITIL background and/or certification required with ServiceNow experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Experience delivering in-house and commercial off-the-shelf applications
  • Broad understanding of flight operations processes
  • Proven project management experience
  • Knowledge of IT operations controls center experience
  • Experience with– Dispatch, Load Planning, Crew Scheduling, Flight Planning, etc.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Dispatcher's License

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Access, etc.
  • Knowledge of the applications and processes of one or multiple operational teams within the IOC (Crew, Tech Ops, Weight and Balance, Flight Planning Support, and/or Dispatch)
  • Knowledge of IT project life cycles, particularly SDLC
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
