What you'll do 

American Airlines is looking for a communications expert who can help us effectively tell our story throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and manage crisis events/rapid response in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate is a strategic thinker, creative writer and team player, who will play a critical role in communicating to large internal and external audiences. The candidate will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team, located around the globe, and will work closely with senior leaders in Global Engagement and other business units.

• Works with the Manager of Corporate Communications for Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America in developing and executing external communications strategies to achieve our business goals.
• Helps leads rapid response and crisis communications in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Develops and fosters strong media relations with transportation, aviation, consumer travel and other media and stakeholders throughout the region.  
• Drafts and reviews content for an array of audiences and platforms.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, 24/7 environment to help lead American's communications efforts.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in the Communications Field
• Minimum 3 years related experience
• Native Spanish speaker. Fluent English

Skills

• Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills and experience in strategic communications planning
• Ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing landscapes and to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
• Strong organization and analytical skills, solution and detail-oriented
• Strong ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders dealing with competing priorities
• Capable of anticipating needs and driving clarity on expectations

• High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information
• Thrives in a fast-paced atmosphere where you work under pressure and can meet critical deadlines
• Strong team player with ability to work successfully at all levels of the organization
• Must have excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines effectively, efficiently and independently
• Knowledge of the media landscape in American’s key markets in Latin America and the Caribbean
• Preference for previous public relations experience in aviation and/or transportation industries
