About The Role

 

The role will drive a development capability shift, contributing towards software projects using the latest tools from Microsoft and deployed to Microsoft Azure.  They will directly manage a software development team in-house and with partners and must have strong management skills with a proven record for leadership and architecting applications through team development.

 

The role will also have accountability for the development, support, and enhancement of Business System platforms (SAP and Salesforce) and the application digital landscape across the enterprise, in line with the business strategy and leading practices.

Furthermore, the role will be accountable for defining and delivering mobility solutions for the enterprise platform and the digital landscape.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

System Administration

 

  • To provide administrative and access control support across all enterprise platform and digital landscapes to agreed service levels
  • Provide support and remediation of systems incidents and requests within service levels -
  • Define and manage the operation, maintenance, versioning, and upgrading of enterprise applications and the digital landscape throughout their
  • Liaise with software suppliers and the Change Management team for problem resolution and to maintain awareness of forthcoming developments -
  • Ensure development and coding standards align with best practice and EA strategy
  • Proactively implement a plan to analyse and remove bespoke code by adopting new functionality where applicable

 

System Development, Installation and Deployment

 

  • Direct management of software engineering team
  • Help lead software development and release process
  • Provide technical leadership on software architecture, coding, test strategies, and best practices
  • Lead an agile environment and Scrum process
  • Assist in the understanding of customer requirements and the development of feature requirements
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional product development peers to deliver business success
  • Lead system development as standalone projects or integrated with projects
  • Manage the full development cycle (business requirement specification, system development & testing, deployment, and service integration) in conjunction with [vertical] GM and the PMO
  • Continuously review, strengthen and develop capability in line with International Standards
  • Contribute to solution architecture and approach discussions with EA in line with Group IT Strategy and business needs
  • Build a repository of solution deliverables, process documentation, key developments, and methodologies.
  • Ensure business case benefits can be realised and support risk mitigation, if any, inhibiting realisation
  • Drive product direction and development for Agile IT software products and services for customer adoption
  • Responsible for Code Quality
  • Works closely with the Business on Solution Design and delivery
  • Provide support and guidance to our internal teams and LOBs to transform their applications from traditional application architectures to ones that leverage Microsoft Azure Platform as a Service components
  • Provide support and guidance to our internal teams and LOBs to change their build and release process by leveraging DevSecOps cultural shifts

 

Leadership & Team Management

 

  • Lead a lean, skilled, and fully engaged team; coach, develop and motivate them to achieve set objectives and deliver a maximum contribution
  • Establish clear objectives, roles, and accountabilities of the team
  • Promote and support your talent within EIT
  • Resources assigned to project teams, to be managed as appropriate to the needs of application support priorities
  • Motivate team members to maintain excellence in service delivery and have opportunities for professional development
  • Promote and fast-track your talent within EIT
  • Provide coaching, career planning, technical escalation, and team cohesiveness for all members of the team
  • Lead DevOps for continuous delivery and product improvement
  • Responsible for the team profitability and recharge goals
  • Create functional design specifications, and assist with other project deliverables as needed

 

Governance

 

  • Ensure governance structures are established to manage Infrastructure and Service Improvement projects
  • Identify and manage key IT risks
  • Ensure compliance with IT Policies and Standards; and Security Standards

 

About You

 

  • 10+ years’ software development experience; 5+ years development leadership experience
  • Degree in Computer Science/IT/Engineering/Science; Preferably Management Training (MBA, etc.)
  • Hands-on leadership experience of a high performing team of 25+ developers
  • Expert in Microsoft Azure and had previous experience in leveraging the benefits of the application/platform in comparison to traditional application architecture
  • Previous experience in leading and implementing DevSecOps cultural shifts; able to change hearts and behaviors
  • Demonstrates high level of verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, clearly and concisely present issues, alternatives, and recommendation(s)
  • Demonstrates ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • A change leader - able to structure and develop teams, whilst collaborating with key stakeholders
  • A natural problem solver
  • Able to build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
  • Passionate about automating development and production environments and look for creative ways to solve challenging technical problems
  • Incorporates testing methodologies into software implementation
