About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Paralegal to join Al Futtaim Group Real Estate (“AFGRE”) - our Real Estate division. This position requires the ability to work well under pressure, successfully manage a demanding workload, and meet deadlines.
The role serves to prepare and check legal documents (leases and associated documentation) relating to prospective retail and commercial tenants of malls and commercial properties in Al-Futtaim projects/developments both locally and regionally in coordination with leasing department.
Key accountabilities
Drafting and review of Legal Documents
- Supporting and assisting in the leasing process for Dubai Festival City Mall, Festival Tower, Festival Plaza Mall and Doha Festival City Mall
- Review of agreements for lease, and leases, to ensure accuracy in line with the commercial terms contained in signed heads of terms and leasing approval documents. Drafting of other related legal documents (e.g. licenses, deeds of assignment, surrenders, amendments) in accordance with leasing committee approval forms and in collaboration with AFGRE
- Preparing and checking sales and purchase documentation relating to residential units in the Dubai Festival City development
Drafting of Legal Letters:
- Drafting of legal letters to tenants regarding breach of contract, debts, and any other relevant matters
Obtaining Tenant Company Documents:
- Collecting and reviewing copies of prospective tenants legal documents such as memoranda and articles of incorporation, commercial/ trade licenses, powers of attorney etc
- Following up with the AFGRE leasing department to ensure that the signed legal documents and payments, where required, are collected in a timely fashion and are in order
Filing
- Completing filing procedures for the purpose of records and subsequent contract administration
Reporting
- Reporting on the status of all legal documents to the leasing teams on a weekly basis
General support
- Providing various forms of support and assistance to the wider legal team, as and when required
Candidate requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma, Degree, other (preferably Law related unless candidate has sufficient relevant experience)
- Experience of handling administrative aspects of leasing in a property development or real estate company
Job-Specific Skills:
- Good command of spoken and written English (Arabic would be an advantage)
- Basic understanding of contract law as it applies to leases
- Drafting skills
