- This position is a member of the Risk Management & Compliance team within the Safety Division.
- Responsible for managing formal correspondence between American Airlines and regulatory agencies; primarily the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to ensure issues are resolved in a manner most beneficial to the company and in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations.
What you'll do
- Leads root-cause compliance investigations of global, systemic issues and help business units determine appropriate corrective actions and identfies system contributing factors of compliance escapes
- Leverages data to identify and assess areas of operational inefficiency within existing business operations to validate compliance findings, seek operational improvements, and assure monitoring for success
- Ensures FAA correspondence meets established standards
- Tracks the completion of correspondence corrective actions
- Acts as liaison with operating departments and the FAA or other regulatory agencies to manage correspondence
- Provides subject matter expertise on regulatory issues for internal departments
- Provides direct interface with FAA and other regulators involving correspondence and regulatory matters
- Maintains correspondence in ETQ database for tracking and trending purpose
- Risk assess events associated with correspondence
- May be required to create analysis reports
- Participates in various working group(s)
- Provides support to AA Legal when necessary
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience/training
- 3 years experience in regulatory environment or educational equivalent
- Broad operational and/or airworthiness experience/knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Aircraft Maintenance and/or Operations experience/knowledge
- Advanced degree
- Certification or equivalent expereience/training in "Just Culture", root-cause investigations and Safety
Management Systems (SMS)

- Excellent interpersonal and written skills
- Proficient in MS Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

- Strong attention to detail with ability to make connections across functional areas and understand dependencies and implications
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently, complete projects on time, perform under pressure, and respond to changing priorities
