  • This job is a member of the Credit Union Team within the American Airlines Credit Union.
  • Responsible for securing payment on delinquent mortgage and consumer loans while minimizing losses to American Airlines Credit Union.

What you'll do

  • Ensures efficient collection activity is performed on consumer loans, credit cards, negative shares, including delinquent loans in Puerto Rico and international accounts
  • Performs collection queue audits to ensure that:
    • Analysts work account queues effectively
    • Collection notes are properly entered into collection software system
    • Follow-up frequency is effectively maintained on delinquent loans
    • All collection laws and departmental policies and procedures are followed
    • Member advocacy is followed
  • Answers escalated supervisor calls
  • Follows-up on calls regarding repossession requests
  • Performs the Quality Control (Q/C) process including collection call monitoring
  • Conducts one-on-one counseling with collectors
  • Conducts Collector training for new hires
  • Increases recoveries of charged-off loans
  • Develops statistics and reports as requested by management
  • Conducts performance reviews and counseling of assigned collection staff
  • Ability to travel as needed

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years’ experience in the credit union industry
  • Previous collection experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Knowledge of FDCPA, CFPB and Federal Bankruptcy Laws

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
  • Knowledge of NCUA regulations
  • Ability to communicate directly with credit union members and utilize collection and negotiation techniques
  • Ability to demonstrate superior people management and employee engagement skills, to include directing, coaching, counseling and motivating staff
  • Ability to supervise multiple staff personnel
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills & exercise effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
  • Must pass applicable American Airlines pre-hire compliance checks
  • Must have an acceptable credit history, which will be verified
  • Responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act
