  • Responsible for revenue generation through strategic sales and promotions with the assigned wholesalers/agencies. Penetrates targeted market segments for maximum exposure and revenue generation, market share and achieving targets. 
  • The role is a part of the Japan Sales team within our Asia Pacific Sales group. 

What you'll do

 


•    Maximize leisure, group, OTA selling strategy with the Manager Channel Sales on the assigned agency accounts and builds business relationship to gain long-term commitments to AA
•    Act as primary point of contact as American Airlines and Japan Airlines, leverage market share against competitors and their Joint Business 
•    With Japan Airlines, collaborate to develop Pacific Joint Business (PJB) sales strategy and engagement plans represented in strategic account plans to grow revenue and PJB market share
•    Handle designated accounts to leverage PJB revenue based on strategic deployment and account plan aligned with Japan Airlines
•    Leverages the AA Value Based Selling (VBS) framework, develops revenue share, identifies customer needs, identify and implement new accounts. 
•    Leverage market intelligence of tour & travel out of Asia Pacific to Caribbean and Latin
•    Familiarize sales operation of Japan Airlines for daily smooth sales operation 
•    Leverage business volume and market share in designated secondary city with respective business branch of Japan Airlines
•    Solves the current obstacles and shifts revenue shares from competitors to AA
•    Submits recommendations and suggestions on sales programs as well as AA product to Sales Managers
•    Makes recommendations concerning local advertising, displays, direct mail, marketing messages, FAM trips and other promotional material to support the sales effort
•    Conduct educational activities for counterparts at Japan Airlines to leverage selling skills and market knowledge of outbound business for flight destinations to The Americas 
•    Effective interaction with respective department i.e. Sales Planning, Marketing, Revenue Management, Corporate Communications of American Airlines and Japan Airlines to maximize business result 
•    Provides AA net fare recommendations as needed and obtains annual commitments with major wholesalers through Agency Incentive Program (AIP)
•    Participates in planning of package tours to promote AA and occasionally holds destination seminars. 
•    Reviews and analyzes account performance and achievement of AIP goals and initiates corrective actions as necessary
•    SalesHub Compliance - Capture, track, resolve and monitor customer issues reported by customers, agencies and/or internal AA Sales Team members 
•    Account Planning and QBR – Review and analyze account performance and sales penetration
•    Performs ad-hoc projects and segment initiatives as required and supports sales promotions, customer events, marketing activities, etc. 
•    Manage proactive external sales activity for Sales Service team
•    New Business Leads – Submits Leads and, depending on the location, might maintain new business relationships with key agencies

•    Financial acumen for corporate sales 
•    Strong market knowledge of the Japanese travel industry
•    Travel agency or airline sales experience would be advantageous
•    Embrace new project and challenges  
•    Highly effective communication skills, written & verbal, across all levels of a large matrix organization
•    Highly positive & collaborative team player with proven ability to influence decision making
•    Where required is able to adopt quickly & take direction, is supportive of and takes ownership for driving forward on programs and initiatives
•    Proven skills in developing & implementing strategic key account plans for respective business partners that engage all aspects of the commercial relationship
•    Highly self-motivated with a very positive attitude
•    Strong organization / planning, analytical and problem-solving skills. Position requires the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
•    Flexibility and willingness to work outside business hours and at weekends as required
•    Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required
•    Strong computer skills including a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office functionality
•    Fluent communicator in English and Japanese
