  • American Airlines is seeking a motivated, energetic Curriculum Designer to join the Advanced Qualification Program (AQP) team at the Flight Academy in Fort Worth, TX. Being a part of the Flight Training & Standards organization means that you will contribute to successfully training over 13,000 of the world’s safest pilots. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Advanced Qualification Program (AQP).

What you'll do

  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain pilot training curriculum for qualification, continuing qualification and requalification courses
  • Coordinate the development, maintenance, and implementation of training programs though the identification and communication of learning objectives and performance standards through application of the Instructional System Design (ISD) process
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g.: Flight Operations, Flight Service, Dispatch Operations, Pilot Records, Training Scheduling, Safety, etc.), and external agencies (e.g. FAA, DOD, TSA, IATA, etc.) to ensure the quality, efficiency, relevancy and regulatory compliance of AQP documentation
  • Ensure timely updates to all course curricula through effective tracking of and adherence to all required development timelines
  • Create, publish, distribute, and manage multiple manuals and documents on specific aircraft fleet, international operations, human factors, or general subject topics (security, hazardous materials, etc.)
     

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • FAA Pilot Certificate
  • Experience with Advanced Qualification Program (AQP)
  • Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision
  • Sufficient experience to comprehend commercial aircraft systems, operational procedures, flight maneuvers, and line operations
  • Ability to produce a quality, error-free product with minimal revision required
  • Above average non-verbal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in team processes 
  • Exceptional aptitude for task analysis, reasoning, fact-finding, prioritization, decision making and problem solving.
  • Background in Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Flexibility with work schedule
  • Ability/Willingness to travel
  • Technical aviation experience in FAR Part 121/135 or military operations
