  • This job is a member of the Flight Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
  • Responsible for administration of the Flight Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) and the programs’ effectiveness and continuous improvement by supporting Leadership. This job also assists with projects and process studies for the Flight Safety to promote safety in preventing accidents and incidents while enhancing Company policy and Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) compliance.

What you'll do

  • Processes daily Flight ASAP reports requiring extensive report reading
  • Assists with projects and process studies for the Flight Safety to promote safety in preventing accidents and incidents while enhancing company policy and Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) compliance
  • Tracks data and analysis for the weekly Flight ASAP Event Review Committee (ERC) meetings
  • Identifies trends and Flight Safety concerns arising from the ASAP Program
  • Develops and distributes FAA Quarterly Reports
  • Creates Event Review Committee (ERC) agendas for weekly meetings; updates meetings with meeting minutes
  • Participates, interacts and interfaces with FAA and labor union members of the ERC
  • Develops safety promotion materials including Powerpoint presentations to represent the department
  • Interfaces with other departments as necessary for research or information sharing purposes
  • Prepares, coordinates and assists in facilitation of monthly Safety Management System meetings
  • Participates in ASAP Industry conferences
  • Supports Flight Safety Go-Team activities including on call responsibilities

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training
  • 4 year's experience in aviation industry or in aviation academics

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Safety or Aviation Management
  • 4 year's experience in aviation industry or in aviation academics, prefer pilot experience

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in the use of MS Office (with advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint), SABRE, CERS, and WBAT or similar complex database system
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (CFR 121), Safety Management Systems (SMS) and AA Flight Operations Policies and Procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, problem solving, diplomacy, etiquette and team building
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage
  • Solid understanding of the operational departments of a Part 121 major air carrier
