  • This job is a member of the International Planning Team within the Network and Scheduling Division.
  • Short-Haul International – The analyst will be responsible for planning the Short-Haul International Network – Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, and the Northern Rim of South America. Responsibilities include evaluating historical and future profitability metrics and booking trends, collaborating closely with Domestic Network Planning, Operations, Revenue Management, and Sales teams, forecasting new international routes, and fostering relationships with outside stakeholders in the region. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for aggregating and analyzing complex datasets to utilize as a foundation for decisions and strategy implementation, while demonstrating an understanding of current geopolitical and airline trends.

What you'll do

  • Analyzes airline operations through developing, maintaining, and enhancing statistical and business models
  • Applies analytical modeling and data optimizing methods using advanced MS Excel to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, growth evaluations and financial analyses
  • Evaluates the financial impact of changes in block time, Minimum on Ground time (MOGT), Minimum Connect Time (MCT), and other structural inputs in collaboration with Scheduling, Ops Planning & Performance (OPP), Maintenance Planning, and other relevant internal and external teams
  • Develops strategies for reducing congestion at hubs through utilizing alternative fleet deployment techniques or increasing runway utilization
  • Interfaces with OPP, Maintenance, Corporate Real Estate, Integrated Operations Center (IOC) and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment between operational and financial priorities. Develop schedule KPIs to analyze schedules in order to develop robust schedules that improve connectivity
  • Collaborates with Corporate Real Estate, Financial Planning and others on the development and approval of long term airport infrastructure investment strategies at American's hubs and strategic spokes
  • Develops the documentation, socialization, and maintenance of schedule standards
  • Facilitates and analyzes schedule adjustments that enable successful execution at hub/station level
  • Coordinates master calendar of schedule production and capacity forecasts in collaboration with the Network Planning and Scheduling team using tools such as AirVision (Sabre) and Gate Planner

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training
  • Minimum 1 year’ experience in airline Network Planning/Scheduling, Revenue Management or analytical field or a Master’s degree in a related field

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Knowledge of AirVision Schedule Manager
