This job is a member of the Pricing/Yield Management team within the Revenue Management Division

What you'll do

  • Maximize revenue for a geographic region within American’s network; use advanced models and tools to forecast changes to the competitive environment and passenger demand  
  • Develop an in depth understanding of the marketplace and yield/pricing strategies to drive a competitive advantage that translates into actionable items 
  • Leverage a variety of reports and analyze changes in the competitive landscape to identify high-level trends and strategies to make evidence-based decisions and drive revenue growth   
  • Collaborate with commercial counterparts and develop a relationship with partner teams including Pricing, Network Planning, Marketing, Sales, and Alliances to identify opportunities to improve revenue performance 

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • BS/BA/MS/MA candidate with coursework in a quantitative discipline (economics, mathematics, engineering, finance, etc.)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to assemble information, extract pertinent facts, draw logical conclusions, and present recommendations
  • Interest in optimization problem-solving, economic game theory, and consumer buying behavior
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions while taking ownership of job responsibilities
  • Willingness to take calculated risks
  • Ability to work well within a team environment
  • Refined skills with MS Office; familiarity with software programs used in conducting quantitative analysis (Oracle, SAS, etc.)
    Strong oral and written communications skills

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 1 Year industry or data-related experience and/or advanced degree in related field

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the core economics that drive the airline industry with ability to translate regional trends into market-level actions 
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with ability to synthesize large quantities of data, including the ability to assemble information, extract pertinent facts, draw logical conclusions, and present recommendations 
  • Ability to use data to make evidence-based decisions, negotiate, influence others, and create consensus to achieve results  
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and comfortable presenting performance outcomes to all levels of the organization including senior leadership  
  • Innovative thinker who discovers new ways to problem solve and comfortable taking calculated risks 
  • Ability to accept and appreciate working in multi-cultural environment
