About The Job
This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division. This position will be responsible for all aspects of Microsoft stack based Infrastructure Services and Desktop hardware. This includes research, design, test, and deploy technologies being researched by the desktop organization at American Airlines. Majority of the focus will be on Desktop hardware and peripherals that will be utilized to streamline the desktop infrastructure.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
- Performs lifecycle management for operating systems and applications using the Microsoft System Center suite of products (maintain hotfixes, service packs, software deployments)
- Researches, designs, deploys, and tests Desktop hardware and Windows operating systems
- Installs, upgrades, and supports the enterprise desktop image
- Creates, updates, test, and deploys software packages
- Troubleshoots issues related to the desktop imaging process or methodology
- Responds to the needs and questions of users concerning access of resources on the network
- Performs as tier three\four level support engineer to troubleshoot and resolve complex enterprise level issues
- Assists in the selection and recommendation of standardized equipment selection
- Creates and maintains architecture, design, and installation documentation
- Stays abreast of new technologies as it applies to business needs
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 3 years of system administration experience on Windows OS 2012 2016
- 3 years of experience as a Desktop Hardware Engineer
- Experience with Microsoft System Center, scripting, PowerShell and other automation processes and solutions
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, etc.
- Experience with imaging technology and processes
- Experience with virtualization technologies
- Proficient in authoring, editing, and presenting technical documents
- Experience in supporting a DevOps environment using tools such as GIT, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
- Basic understanding of J2EE design patterns and best practices
- Ability and desire to troubleshoot complex issues and explore details
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in ambiguous technical situations
- Ability to draft and formalize technical documentation
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Desktop Hardware Engineer
- Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, customer service and negotiation skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
- Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
