About The Job
This job is a member of the Supply Chain Team within the Integrated Operations Division.This position will be responsible for developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers who support American's material and service requirements for maintenance. This job works closely with internal American Airlines customers to understand their business needs, and represents the company in negotiations and business transactions with suppliers.
Specifically, you'll do the following:
- Represents the company in business transactions with internal and external organizations
- Identifies and implements opportunities and strategies to minimize supplier cost for parts and services
- Identifies, negotiates, establishes and manages supply and service agreements; Leads commercial negotiation with suppliers
- Measures, tracks, influences supplier performance for the commodity; resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
- Translates team, department and corporate goals into commodity strategies, execution and ultimately: results
- Develops and promotes strategic partnerships with suppliers
- Leads cross-functional teams; fully understands internal customer requirements and works to meet those needs
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
- Champions new opportunities while fully assessing and mitigating risk
- Positively influences teams and external partners to achieve goals
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training
- 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, or a similar work function
- A team leader with strong communication skills
- Strong knowledge of supply chain concepts, with work experience applying those concepts
- Demonstrated negotiating and influencing experience
- Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative Business understanding, particularly in project management, early supplier involvement, total cost management and financial analysis
- Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
- High ethical standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or MBA with a concentration in Supply Chain Management
- 3 years of experience in Supply Chain related fields
