Job Description:

To carry out the repair or replacement of all monocoque and steel chassis vehicle including structural, load and impact bearing components, carry out repairs to meet the manufacturers original specifications using an alignment jig and measuring systems ensuring repaired areas meet the manufacturers anti-corrosion standard through proper use of suitable materials.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Replacement of new body parts, major repairs of body structure and rectification of major dents:
  • Carry out the replacement of new body parts, major repairs of body structure, rectification of major dents, etc., as per the list of jobs attached herewith.
  • The jobs should be accomplished with usage of spoons, dollies, hammers, snips, body jack, vice grips, disc sander, gas welding, spot welding equipment, air operated hacksaw, belt sander, sealant gun , spot weld cutter, air chisel and alignment jig equipment.

 

  1. Workmanship and standards:
  • Carry out jobs to the manufacturer’s recommended levels of workmanship and standards and thereby, to ensure that the strength and durability of the car body is maintained to the original specification.

 

  1. Safety, cleanliness and orderliness:
  • Implement all relevant precautions and safe practices while carrying out the various body repair jobs/hazardous materials.
  • Use standard safety equipment while carry out, welding, cutting, sanding or grinding etc. Standard safety equipment includes respirator and filter mask, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes an ear plugs.
  • Ensure that all tools and maintained in proper working order and stored in tool box provided. Keep the equipment of the section clean and properly maintained. Keep work area clean and orderly.

 

 

  1. Customer focused:
  • To be customer focused in all areas of his work. To accomplish repairs to very high standards.
  •  To ensure that customer’s car is not scratched, stained and damaged i.e., it is not disservices in any way.

 

  1. Old parts:
  • Ensure proper handling, storage and delivery of replaced old/damaged parts (chargeable and/ or under warranty) the parts, returnable to insurance company must be stored safely.

 

  1. Efficiency Target:
  • Compete the allotted job with in the standard operation/time stipulated by workshop controller, so as to achieve efficiency between 110% - 125%

 

  1. Improving and developing his knowledge:
  • Further learn and develop his knowledge about construction of monocoque bodies and usage of alignment jig for measuring body dimensions and straightening damaged body structure.
  • Further improve his knowledge about locations of usage of sealant and adhesive between different parts of monocoque body shell.
  • To increase his knowledge and sharpen his skill to effectively troubleshoot, water leak, air leak and wind noise problems.
  • To further develop his knowledge, about identifying the correct requisite parts for a repair job. This will ensure ordering of correct parts at first time.

 

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

 

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: High School, ITI Course in Automobile Engineering, with specialization in car body construction and repairs.

 

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of working as denter out of this, two years should be of working on monocoque bodies.

 

Job-Specific Skills:

  1. To comprehend English language, basic maths, exploded views, technical illustrated drawings.
  2. To apply new knowledge and concepts, to improve efficiency and workmanship.
  3. To work as an exceptionally, highly skilled Denter and body repairer capable to repair major damages on monocoque bodies.
