This job is a member of the Technical Operations Planning Team within the Integrated Operations Division. Responsible for supporting long range strategic initiatives focused on flight schedules, resource planning, and workload measurement associated with the Line Maintenance division.
Specifically, you’ll do the following:
- Assists a variety of team members from Technical Operations with resolving application issues, business processes, reporting and documenting software defects, and sharing best practices
- Learns all facets of Tech Ops Planning including cross-training into additional roles to help the team as necessary
- Responsible for keeping the Applications current with the latest maintenance standards for checks, special items cards, engineering change orders, and field maintenance reliability items
- Advocates for the business (end-users) with the 24-7 Applications Help Desk; creating, tracking, and resolving customer problem reports
- Works with the American Airlines Analytics (COGNOS) development team to support, build and or modify reports
- Works toward becoming an Associate Product Owner of Planning Applications:
- Develops user stories and representing them to the IT development team
- Prioritizes product backlog during iteration planning meetings
- Works directly with our Application Development Teams
- Participates in daily SCRUM meetings
- Must be willing to work all shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and extra hours when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Aviation, Business or equivalent experience
- 3 years of related experience
- Knowledge of Company rules, regulations and conditions which may conflict with company procedures
- Skills in planning and organization
- Knowledge of software applications Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Skills in problem solving
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to concisely present work
- Ability to prioritize and navigate complex projects among competing priorities to execute multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision and prioritize opportunities
- Be a self-starter
- Ability to work well within a team environment with a focus toward customer service, as well as an independent contributor
- Ability to assemble information, extract pertinent facts, draw logical conclusions, and present recommendations
- Ability to thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment and leverage best practices
- Ability and willingness to travel domestic and international less than 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training
- Exposure to scheduling, routing and aircraft maintenance
- Previous Airline Industry experience; strong preference for Aircraft Maintenance or Tech Ops background
- Working knowledge of the American Airlines Operations, e.g. General Procedure Manual
- Working knowledge American Airlines applications: AMPS, ASOM, FOS, MAPS, SAFE, SCEPTRE, TECH SITE X, and WCMS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word
- Knowledge of Agile SDLC, C++, HTML, JAVA, and User Acceptance Testing best practices
