Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Manager Postal Affairs & Alliances is the sole subject matter expert overseeing current and future United States Postal Service (USPS) contracts, internal and external postal relations, and mail handling policies and procedures. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for mail revenue growth, and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to target measurable goals aligned with Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air's strategic initiatives. Scope & Complexity This is an individual contributor position responsible for postal affairs and alliances activities for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. Key Duties - Manages current and future United States Postal Service (USPS) contracts, internal and external postal relations, and mail handling policies and procedures. - Functions as the lead subject matter expert for all USPS affairs which oversees performance monitoring, USPS HDQ & regional matters. - Defines long term strategy and evaluates opportunities of USPS contracts and alliance partner portfolio to grow a $40 million dollar revenue stream in a constantly changing environment. - Ensures compliance & documentation over all USPS contracts in accordance with regulations and mail handling systems. - Oversees administration of mail handling systems used by Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, ensuring all postal handling procedures are known, communicated, documented, and followed. - Ensures compliance with all new and current USPS regulations for the carriage of mail and provides oversight and direction to the operation through all contract changes. - Manages mail handling performance issues with the frontline operation and develops frontline cargo team members into well-rounded postal liaisons to assist all in aspects of the postal business. - Develops pricing strategies, maintains relationships, and understands competitor/environmental strategies and capabilities relative to USPS operations. Implements change(s) when needed. - Collaborates and manages relationships with cargo alliance partners while developing new relationships across the industry for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air cargo divisions that are aligned with each division's strategic goals. Job-Specific Skills, Experience and Education Required - 7 years logistics experience. - A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with preferably a focus in IT, mathematics, economics, business administration or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Proficient with analytical data mining & reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS, Brio, TOAD, etc.). - Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, and Outlook). - Strong presentation skills, with the confidence and ability to present to both internal & external customers. - Ability to multitask and manage multiple, concurrent projects. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred - A minimum of 3 years of airline industry experience. - A minimum of 3 years postal relations experience. - Knowledge of database structure and design. - Understanding of SQL writing and report development. - Knowledge of yield/pricing practices in a highly competitive environment. - Knowledge of USPS regulations.
