About The Job

This job is a member of the Employee Travel IT team, within the Corporate Technology division. The team member will be responsible for leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process, from inception to transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using enterprise-standard development tools to analyze, model, design, construct, and test reusable code.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

· Collaborate with leaders, business analysts, project managers, IT architects, quality assurance engineers, and other developers to understand requirements and develop solutions that meet business requirements

· Maintain and enhance existing enterprise applications and platforms using domain-driven design and test-driven development

· Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, and identify and implement solutions

· Create detailed project specifications and estimates

· Research and implement new technologies to enhance current processes and optimize security and performance of the code base

· Advocate adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and best practices

· Work closely with IT architects and leads to ensure that technical decisions meet long-term enterprise growth need

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

· 2 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications in hosted production environments

· Proficiency in front-end development:

 - Frameworks/tools: AngularJS, Angular, Vue.JS, TypeScript, CSS (Sass, LESS), AJAX

 - Cross-browser compatible and mobile-aware development

- CI/CD tools: Webpack, Gulp, GitHub, Jenkins, UCD, Azure DevOps (TFS), Jasmine, Karm

Preferred Qualifications

· Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training

· 5+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience

· Proficiency in back-end/full-stack development:

- J2EE technologies: Java, JSP, JMS, JAXB, JDBC

- Database and persistence frameworks: Hibernate, object/relational mapping, query performance tuning

- Web Servers: Tomcat, tc Server, WebSphere

- Web Services: REST/SOAP (JSON/WSDL/XML)

- Frameworks: Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Bootstrap

· Experience in DevOps toolchain for development and operational support:

- CI/CD Tools: Maven, GitHub, Jenkins, UCD, Azure DevOps (TFS), Junit, Mockito, Coverity

- Application monitoring/operational support: Splunk, DynaTrace

· Cloud-based development and deployment experience: Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Azure, IBM Cloud

· Airline industry experience

· Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups

· Ability to influence through outstanding collaborative and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
