ROLE PURPOSE:

Supporting the Logistics manager in administration of the Logistics, Compliance and Demand Planning function for M&S MENA; ensuring the implementation of best practice and process into the M&S supply chain function to deliver right products into correct markets in a timely manner.

Job Holder will be responsible for working proactively with functional teams such as merchandising, operations and marketing. They will also be expected to liaise extensively with M&S Int. food team, Int. log team, source hubs, Hemel, Bedworth, Bradford & LHR, customs, techno regulatory bodies and freight providers.

 

KEY ROLE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: Specify the output required from the role. It is recommended to identify not more than 6-8 key tasks and their performance indicators. NB – Focus on outcomes not tasks.

 

Description of the Tasks:

 

Logistics Management & Process Improvement

Support the Logistics Manager in ensuring the stock and availability for both hanging and boxed stock to M&S Stores in liaison with Merchandising, Retail Operations and Group Retail Logistics. (Freight from hubs / Hemel, Bradford(ambient), Bedworth(Frozen), LHR(chilled), Direct suppliers)

Ensure compliance and registration for Beauty, Food and Home requirements are met throughout the MENA region. 

Manage improvements to the supply chain processes from supplier through transit into stores in new and existing markets in line with current and future projections.

Create end to end SOPs and IOPs for 3PLs and M&S Regional Office.

Assist Logistics Manager by delivering direct to country and origin pick and pack programme.

Assist Logistics Manager by rationalising 3PL service portfolio through production of RFQs and analysis in line with Group and 5 year strategy. 

Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Reports to track stock and costs throughout the supply chain.

Measure freight lead time from source to arrival at DC by ‘lane’ and take steps to minimise by event code: haulage to port, port dwell time, sailing time, port dwell time, haulage to DC. 

 

Financial and Business Planning

Work with the Logistics Manager to help build  and support delivery of  annual budget.   

Assist Logistics Manager in the execution of the M&S Al-Futtaim strategy

Work closely with Retail Operations and Merchandising & Buying  to deliver the stock cover KPI in line with the sales plan and budgeted Logistics costs.

 Measure Develop a cost budget based on volume projections with key indices per lane.

 Minimise airfreight.

 Participate in annual tenders for freight services.

 

People

Identify training and development needs with HR to ensure the logistics team have relevant training in place from induction to up skilling training. Ensure talent management, performance culture and succession planning in place.

 

Corporate and Brand

Promote Brand and Corporate Values throughout the logistics team and the ways of working with M&S, stores, warehouses and depending functions within Al Futtaim.

 

Business Growth /New Markets

 

Work closely with Store Development in delivering fixtures and fittings on time at best cost

 

Assist Logistics Manager in research and investigation of market

entry and store opening projects with retail division and  M&S provided resources.

Change / Project management; operational owner to minimise cost and lead time maximising availability, rationalise suppliers maintaining healthy competition

Analysis/ highlight trends/risk. Develop solutions

Manage tender process; scope of work/cost simulation/comm’s

Manage seamless transition to new provider, hyper care  

Deliver optimal solutions; vas at source depots e.g. Bradford edi vas, Food direct to Qatar.

 

 

Education: Master’s Degree in Supply Chain, certification in Supply chain is preferred

 

Minimum Experience and Knowledge: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in Logistics and supply chain management, retail environment. With 2 + years’ experience in similar role / managerial position.
