About The Job

This job is a member of the Information Technology team, within the Information Technology Division. 

The successful candidate will assume a senior technical position on a highly skilled and experienced architecture team providing technical services for multiple products. In addition, the individual will work with the product technical leads.The position is a technical position responsible for developing architecture solutions and roadmaps for platforms and applications based on business needs, technical gaps, and trends. As senior architect, this individual will also mentor other architects. The architecture role interfaces regularly with the product owners in the business, the delivery managers, technical leads, and enterprise technical service groups.  The position will also create and support application cloud migration and accelerates the adoption of DevOps tool chains.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Oversees and contributes to the technical approach of system/solution architecture to AA’s technology enterprise committees such as Architecture Assessment Committee, Cloud Champion, Standard Tower etc..
  • A thought leader who leads, motivates, and cultivates a high performing team environment.
  • Removes roadblocks, cultivates relationships, and effectively communicates across enterprise at various levels of leadership.
  • Leads, influences, and enforces technology standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of application systems development experience
  • 5 years architectural and design experience
  • Proven experience to construct long term architecture vision and delivery roadmaps
  • Proven leadership attributes such as mentoring, sharing, helping, providing guidance, influencing, and learning new technologies
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external IT/Business/Vendor stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work across multiple functional teams in the creation of business solutions
  • Proven ability in delivering architectural solutions for critical, large scale, multi-domain systems
  • Experience creating architectures for large, complex initiatives
  • Track record of introducing new technologies subsequently adopted by multiple IT groups
  • Familiar with current technical trends including distributed computation, AI, machine learning, automation, security, open source technologies etc.
  • Hands-on experiences in Cloud Foundry, kubernetes, contrainer technologies
  • Hands-on experience in systems development in a variety of computing architectures and environments

  • Hands-on experience with cloud deployment patterns, micro-services architecture, real time analytics, and big data
  • Proficient in Agile methodology, SDLC process, and DevOps. Hands-on experience in DevOps tool chain, such as, Jenkin, Git, Maven, Gradle, Artifactory, sonarqube, test automation tools etc.
  • Significant experience in translating business requirements to technical requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple efforts concurrently with the skills to keep complex initiatives moving forward quickly while exercising an appropriate level of procedural discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • 5 years of technical or team leadership experience
  • 2+ years’ Cloud architecture or development experiences in IBM Public and Azure
  • 2+ years’ experience in Agile methodology
  • 2+ years’ experience in DevOps deployment processes
  • Airline industry experience and multiple domain knowledges, such as passenger reservation, customer experience, flight operations, scheduling, yield management and pricing, codeshare alliances, merchandizing, distribution etc.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups.
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently.
