Scope & Complexity We want to talk to undergraduate students in their junior year who have accomplished outstanding academic results. The program is designed for a commitment of 40 hours per week for the duration of the 12-week program. When not working, we invite our interns to take advantage of unlimited complimentary space-available travel on Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air... Lunch in San Diego? Weekend in Portland? Maui? Phoenix... Done! Key Duties - Update and expand existing financial models, or build new ones, to help automate routine functions or to provide additional insight into the division's financial operations. - Extract, organize, analyze and summarize large data sets to further the division's understanding and forecasting/budgeting ability of key spend drivers. - Effectively communicate new insights or understandings from your work to internal stakeholders and decision makers. - Assist with routine finance functions, which may include updating forecast models, calculating accruals, generating reports, conducting variance analyses, etc. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - Understanding of basic concepts in corporate finance, financial accounting and managerial accounting and their general application. - Professional or academic experience with various statistical techniques used to analyze and describe large data sets. - Professional or academic experience in creating or working with complex financial models. - Basic understanding of database construction and query formats. - Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. - Internships positions are open to current undergraduate students in their junior year who are enrolled in a full time course of study graduating between December '20 and June '21. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Operational experience with database query tools and applications (e.g. Toad Data Point or equivalent). - Familiarity with data visualization applications (e.g. Tableau or equivalent). - Experience in calculating accruals, conducting variance analysis, and communicating financial results. - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate financial and/or mathematical concepts and applications to those with limited understanding.
