Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Senior Technical Services Specialist is a "desk" mechanic who assists technicians on the ground to diagnose issues. This Technical Services Specialist leverages in-depth aircraft maintenance knowledge and uses independent judgment on a daily basis to answer technicians' questions on aircraft components and maintenance and repair issues. This Specialist provides subject matter expertise when answering calls from technicians who have questions related to the aircraft. Scope & Complexity - This fully independent, individual contributor position makes complex and business critical decisions affecting operations, safety, and aircraft maintenance with little supervision. This role is a recognized expert in ATA chapters of responsibility, leader in compliance, and a strong advocate of team safety and security. Key Duties - Provides technical assistance to engineering, maintenance control and all maintenance departments for aircraft on ground (AOG) or problem aircraft. - Monitors maintenance flight logs, engine condition delay/cancellation reports, TRAX recurrent item and MEL/CDL usage to identify technical problems and/or recurrent technical issues. - Initiates suggestive corrective action in coordination with Maintenance Control and/or Line Planning and sets the appropriate priority for work to be accomplished. - Performs on-site technical assistance as needed on AOG or problem aircraft. - Monitors reliability sources, maintenance flight logs, and delay/cancellation reports to identify repeat problems concerning extended aviation (ETOPS) significant systems. - Leverages "go-to" technical services expertise to effectively work with all departments. - Answers questions and responds to concerns from the FAA and from executive management. - Proactively looks for areas of concern and makes recommendations to engineering. - Prepares engine trend analyses and participates in fleet engineering change management (ECM) reviews. - Works with CFMI and GE to seek authorizations and limit allowances and/or manual changes (i.e., Powerplants). - Performs other duties as assigned. Job-Specific Skills & Education Required - A minimum 10 years of airline maintenance experience troubleshooting airplane or engine systems and subsystems. (Candidates with a strong OEM background in Systems or Powerplant will be considered in lieu of maintenance experience.) - Strong background in 737 Classic and 737NG airplane systems and components (e.g., Avionics and Systems) or strong background in CFM56 engines and components (e.g., Powerplant). - Strong analytical and problem solving skills. - Ability to meet assigned project deadlines with self-directed decision making and confidence. - Ability and willingness to work the night shift. - Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening). - Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. - High school diploma or equivalent is required. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Knowledge of FAA regulations, operating policies and procedures. - Professional skills to support leadership responsibilities during out-of-office periods for the Manager of AOG Engineering/Tech Services. - An Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree, with a focus in an aviation, technical, or related discipline. (In lieu of degree, significant levels of aircraft maintenance, technical training, and/or aviation management experience will be considered.)
