The Flight Training Scheduler oversees and monitors the day-to-day pilot training operation. This role schedules various aspects of pilot training, while complying with all policies, rules, and regulations. Scope & Complexity This individual contributor role supports flight training scheduling for Alaska Airlines (AS). Key Duties - Monitors the day-to-day pilot training operation to ensure all training is efficiently scheduled and maintained while adhering to all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, department policies, and procedures. - Requests, distributes, and manages all training department hotel needs, including monthly reconciliation and submission to the division controller. - Coordinates, plans, and administers the contractual monthly Continuing Qualification Bidding Award for pilots. - Plans, selects, schedules, and manages all Qualification Operational Experience trips, while partnering with other stakeholders on optimization and efficiency. - Collaborates with team members to communicate timely information and promote best practices within the department. - Ensures the department is productive and efficient and provides excellent support to internal and external stakeholders. - Leverages Flight Training Management System (FTMS) proficiency in order to participate in enhancement developments, modification testing, and any efforts necessary to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. - Participates in the maintenance of the scheduling systems operating procedures (SOP) and takes a proactive role to assure all new procedures are added and all appropriate adjustments are completed in a timely manner. - Participates in a rotational work schedule, including weekends, to support the needs of the department. - Performs other duties assigned. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Required - 2 year of relevant scheduling experience, with crew or flight training scheduling experience preferred. - Analytical and problem-solving capabilities. - Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule (e.g., evenings, weekends, holidays). - Leadership ability, with excellent customer service and follow-through skills. - Possess a strong sense of Alaska Spirit to bring forward innovative ideas to promote the success of the department, the division, and the company. - Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening). - Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Working knowledge of the Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement and Flight Operation Training Manual. - An Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree.
