Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Senior Planning Analyst is a subject matter expert in the 18-month rolling schedule at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions and provide recommendations to address the feasibility and profitability of future schedules and the implementation of our network strategy. Key Duties - Acts as a subject matter expert in the 18-month rolling schedule which drives budget and operating schedules. - Owns all competitive P&L modeling and reporting and makes recommendations based on competitor actions and forecasted performance. - With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgement to leads schedule scenario analysis, including feasibility analysis, future changes and profitability impact of these changes. - Liaises with scheduling group to ensure changes are correctly implemented in the schedule. - Assists the Network and Strategy Planning teams in the economic evaluation of Alaska Airline's current network, forecasting new markets, and aircraft gauge. - Evaluates network fit and economics of potential aircraft upgauges and downgauges. - Monitors airline industry events and trends to communicate implications for Alaska Airlines (AS) to leadership across the commercial organization. - Develops and maintains strong relationships with key department customers such as station personnel, fleet planning, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). - Performs in-depth analysis of our competitor's network performance. - Responsible for Capacity Planning's executive reporting (i.e., greenbook / whitebook). - Provides ad-hoc analysis and input in support of commercial planning decisions, company presentations, internal and external communications, etc. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required - 4 years of experience in analytics, with a preference for a commercial aviation focus or related area. - Bachelor's degree with a focus in in aviation management, business, economics, statistics, mathematics, finance, or another quantitative discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Expertise and experience in airline fundamentals and economics. - Knowledge of modeling/forecasting methodology and systems. - Expert level knowledge of airline scheduling systems (Sabre, Oasis, etc.). - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). - Expert analytical skills with a deep understanding of analytical processes. - Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of the company, including senior executives. - A strategic thinker who can see "the big picture" while understanding the details. - A self-starter, with the ability to set priorities consistent with departmental goals and work independently. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - A Master of Business Administration or other Master's degree with a focus in a quantitative discipline. - Strategic scenario development and opportunity cost analysis.
