Head of Product Planning and Strategy
Al-Futtaim Motors, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Product Planning and Strategy for the Toyota brand to drive the strong positioning of its products, create and meet market trends. The ideal candidate will have strong technical background that will be applied to develop and deploy / execute Toyota’s product strategy across various segments which will help gain strategic positioning to offset competition, meet customer requirements, and maximise new vehicle revenue, model profitability and market share in the UAE. In addition, the candidate will be driven by her / his passion for automobiles and the product which will translate to the innovative and disruptive thinking and ideas that the candidate brings to the table.
The job holder will have a key impact on Al Futtaim Motors’s (AFM) relationship with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) with interactions with TMC’s Marketing and Product departments. It is crucial to maximize the overall model profitability and P&L in conjunction with AFM stake holders whilst managing the relationship with key internal and third parties Marketing agencies & Accessory suppliers.
Job Purpose:
- Develop and execute the product lifecycle strategy, monitor product maturity against consumer needs through market results & within appropriate competition context.
- Ensure the right product configuration and product availability in the market, identify and develop product opportunities to grow the business and to fully exploit segment potential in the UAE market
- Perform competitive analysis and develop product pricing strategy in order to maximize sales, profits & to ensure profitability by model
- Establish close relationships with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) to secure UAE market voice of the customer and influence decisions that could affect short, mid and long-term business
- Collaborate and create synergies with Demand and Supply team to ensure the desired ordering mix to support the product life cycle strategy
- Ensure product quality is in line with GSO (Gulf Standard Organization) standards in coordination with the Homologation & After Sales Accessory departments.
- Manage a team of high performing Product managers specializing in various segments. Continuously developing them to encourage innovative thinking ensuring collaboration with the front line sales teams and ensuring the voice of the customer is imbedded in every decision taken
Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge:
- University Degree in Business Management/Sales & Marketing (Master’s Degree preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in product marketing automotive industry including having done a Team lead role in Product planning for a minimum of 3 to 5 years
- Multi Market experience
- Added advantage for candidates who have racing or ‘advanced driving’ experience !

- Has in-depth knowledge of automotive market trends and the discipline to keep constantly updated through research, market visits, etc.
- Excellent analytical and financial skills with the ability to use data to build compelling business cases
- Ability to study, analyze and interpret complex activities and/or information in order to improve new practices or develop new approaches.
- Ability to teach technical skills of product planning to team
- Strong decision-making skills with an eye for strategic enhancement of the business.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills to understand and address issues across multiple disciplines
- Advanced project management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and manage deadlines
- Strong business acumen and proven leadership abilities engaging with individuals at all levels and across various areas of the organization.
