Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The HR Business Partner is responsible for resolving employee relations issues, leading employee investigations, interpreting policies and procedures, and providing general support to the HR Business Partner team at Alaska Airlines. As an individual contributor, this role exercises judgment to make recommendations in the execution of a comprehensive people strategy and provide recommendations to address organizational effectiveness, leadership development, engagement, workforce and succession planning, performance management, and training in support of a high-performance culture. Key Duties - Provides support, guidance and feedback to employees and managers in the resolution of employee relations issues. - Takes initiative to develop solutions to performance issues for employees below the manager level. - With limited direction from manager, completes thorough investigations including researching, assessing, report writing, and making recommendations for resolution. - Partners with Managers, Legal, Labor and Union Representatives, and Business Partner team to solve issues or to escalate to an investigation if appropriate. - Applies working knowledge of HR best practices and Alaska's People Policies to field HR-related inquiries and requests and interpret policies and procedures. - Supports HRBP team projects for various HR-related and cross functional initiatives, including development and implementation of company-wide people programs, ensuring that change management best practices are applied. - Applies working knowledge in HR programs, services, and People Policies to serve as a liaison between assigned business group and HR functional areas. Proactively maintains an open line of communication with managers and employees on HR service-related issues. - With general direction from leadership, consults on org effectiveness, leadership development, engagement, workforce and succession planning, performance management and training. - Makes recommendations to address compensation, job analysis and organizational development. - Partners with Senior HR Business Partners on job support, including job descriptions, job offer analysis, and changes to jobs. - Monitors and analyzes employee trends. - Analyzes root causes of individual employee or collective workgroup issues and recommends solutions. - Makes recommendations on team processes and procedures and participates on project teams or HR teams as needed or for development purposes. - Provides operational and transactional support to the HR Business Partner team and leaders. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills Required - 2 years of experience in Human Resources or related area. - Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree. - Knowledge of employment law and employee relations. - General knowledge of performance management, employee practices, compensation, benefits and rewards. - Aptitude to think conceptually, influence stakeholders, and develop strategies. - High energy, positive presence along with top-notch written and verbal communication skills. - Innovative, apolitical, resilient, fact-based, and a creative solutions-focused mindset, with ability to thrive in a rapidly-changing, collaborative environment and to manage conflict. - Demonstrated ability to seek out and incorporate feedback. - Experience managing processes and projects. - Ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to position the HR organization as a change agent and key business partner. - A proven ability to work independently and to prioritize competing priorities. - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred - Knowledge of federal/state laws relevant to ethics, compliance and risk management. - Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations related to leave and disability programs. - PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification.
