Every day, we go beyond what's expected and reach for the remarkable, together. **YOUR ROLE** Role Summary The Manager Material Planning and Control is responsible for executing on the strategy for material forecasting, repairs management, demand planning, and procurement actions in support of the Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) Division at Alaska Airlines. As a people leader, this role leads and establishes priorities for cross-departmental teams in the assessment, strategy development, supplier evaluation and selection, contract oversight and negotiation of terms to meet cost, quality, and performance targets. Key Duties ? Leads team and establishes priorities for material control and repairs control activities to ensure parts and materials are available for efficient airline operations while maintaining appropriate economical levels of inventory. ? Reviews and monitors inventory systems, TRAX and Xelus, and liaises with Trax and Xelus system vendors for material control tracking and forecasting. Ensures automated processes and formulas are consistent with the requirements of the operation, and inventory management is efficient and economical. ? Executes on strategy to provides support to Maintenance in the procurement and distribution of parts for both scheduled maintenance and non-scheduled maintenance activities. ? Evaluates and makes decisions to improve material acquisition and distribution processes to minimize cycle time and ensure efficient and effective material management. ? Manages entire commodity life cycle, including source selection, vendor oversight, acquisition/disposition, and daily inventory purchases. ? Coordinates with Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) to ensure accurate inventory quantity, locations, and valuations are reflected in all inventory tracking systems and provides oversight and guidance to the Stores Supervisors and their staff on the management of assets at all stores locations and maintenance-staffed stations. ? Sources material and negotiates with vendors for aircraft discrepancies, provides quotes to procurement to ensure we get the most value for our purchase, and reconciles and approves all vendor invoices. ? Serves as the central contact point for all component repairs to ensure servicing of AS parts is done in accordance with AS policies that cover component maintenance, pricing, delivery, warranty, etc. ? Reviews new aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommended spare parts lists (RSPL) and determines what inventory will be carried. ? Supervises airline consignment vendors to ensure parts are sold with the best revenue opportunity for the airline. ? Provides material support to heavy maintenance vendors for 6 to 10 lines of aircraft in heavy maintenance. ? Reviews and approves the purchase of buyer-furnished equipment (BFE) for new aircraft acquisitions. ? Provides approval and oversight for engineering control orders (ECOs) in support of fleet changes and acquisitions. Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education ? Required o 5 years of program, project, or vendor management o 2 years of leadership experience o Bachelor?s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree o Demonstrated use of a strategic sourcing process including development of Request for Proposal (RFP) through contract execution o Experience negotiating high value contracts, specifically maintenance services and component repair o Experience with financial analysis of complex vendor proposals o Strong analytical and reporting capabilities o Excels in leading teams, facilitating meetings, and delivering presentations o Proven track record of sustaining strong customer/supplier relationships o Excels at change management and challenging the status quo o Strong interpersonal and communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) skills o Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment o Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) ? Preferred o 5 years of aviation maintenance experience o 5 years of supply chain management experience o 5 years of Lean Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and CPI background o TRAX and Xelus subject matter expertise o Experience with aviation supply chain management, aircraft parts demand forecasting, and vendor management Job-Specific Leadership Expectations ?
