Role - Senior Audit General Manager - Operational and Financial Senior

Reporting to – Group Director, Internal Audit.

 

Role purpose:

 

Implement and execute risk based internal audit strategy for relevant clusters & geographies through team(s) of audit professionals. Recommend improvements to the Controls & Governance of the organisation’s financial, operational and managerial processes and IT systems; and provide reasonable assurance that the organisation, relevant clusters/geographies complies with established company policies and procedures. Supports the Head of Audit in providing consulting and advisory services to Senior Management and the Shareholders.

 

Role Accountabilities:

 

Overall Audit Strategy and Approach

  • Support the line manager in definition of comprehensive Audit strategy for the function Implement and execute risk based internal audit strategy for relevant clusters & geographies through team(s) of audit professionals.
  • Ensure application of the organisation's audit methodology to deliver the audit plan.
  • Overall management of audit engagements to ensure that scope of work is appropriate, objectives are met, key risks and controls are identified, and quality is assured.
  • Present an overall view of critical findings to Senior Management and recommends suitable action plan to mitigate associated risks that impacts the organisation.

 

Annual Planning

  • Finalisation of Annual Plan & revisions  
  • Develop and present the annual audit plan along with the risk assessment. Ensures consistent application of risk assessment across different SBUs within the area of responsibility (different verticals/geographies).
  • Annual audit plan finalization for review and approval by GDIA in accordance with the IPPF.
  • Presentation to the senior management along with the GDIA.
  • Perform and present for approval revisions to the audit plan periodically.

 

Execution and Management of Audit activities 

  • Manages optimal internal audit execution to improve the Controls & Governance of the organisation's financial, operational and managerial processes and IT systems. This include finalisation of audit templates and the final audit reports.
  • Ensure Audit Management System (MKI) is updated timely and comprehensively.
  • Drives the follow up process with Senior Management to ensure that management actions have been effectively implemented or that Senior Management has accepted the risk of not taking action.

 

Company Policy / Consulting Assignment

  • Provides reasonable assurance that the relevant clusters/geographies complies with established company policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Head of Audit in providing consulting and advisory services to Senior Management and the CFO. This would be either self-driven by the jobholder or managed through the Senior Audit Manager. This may include not limited to the following:
  • Reviewing/validating feasibility study for new business acquisition/IT Investment…etc.
  • Review of new policies/changes thereof.
  • IT Projects review on an ongoing basis.
  • Review of changes to the Delegation of Authority Manual.

 

Audit Programs

  • Performs a final review the audit program for each audit assignment in order to ensure that it addresses all the risks relevant for the area to be audited. This should be documented as template in (AMS) with risks, control and tests to be performed.

 

Management of Internal Audit Teams.

  • Manages all resources efficiently to ensure optimal achievement of the audit plan.
  • Anticipates and responds sensitively to staff problems, concerns and questions. Strives for quality and excellence and encourages others to do the same.
  • Delegates tasks in a constructive and supportive fashion. Takes personal responsibility for results delivered in areas of responsibility.
  • Monitors staff performance and workload and provides constructive and timely feedback to help others achieve their goals.
  • Keeps staff informed of the relevant information and provides timely and ongoing feedback on their performance.

 

Staff coaching & knowledge sharing.

  • Mentors staff to enhance their competence and fosters professional development by designing and supporting a plan that caters to career progression.
  • Maintains up-to-date competencies required for effective internal audit management.

 

Audit Reports and Records

  • Performs a final review of the documentation of audit work in Audit Management system which can fully support the audit findings.
  • Perform final review of audit reports (as prepared by Senior Audit Managers) which should clearly communicate findings, analysis, appraisals, recommendations and information concerning the activities audited.
  • Performs final review of executive summary for each engagement along with the detailed report and audit follow up form.
  • Performs final review of quarterly summary report for presentation to the Vice Chairman/Divisional President.
  • Reviews overall tracking with respect to implementation of audit recommendations.

 

Internal Auditing Standards/International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF)

  • Facilitates the implementation of the IPPF in the internal audit function.
  • Adopts a risk-based approach in accordance with the IPPF to ensure development of an annual audit plan, and subsequent revisions, as and when required.
  • Manages and supports a quality assurance and improvement program.
  • Ensure adherence to the requirements of the IPPF when planning and conducting an internal audit engagement.
  • Applies professional/ethical principles and values to the activities being audited. Discusses significant ethical conflicts with Senior Management and the Head of Audit, as appropriate.

 

Internal Audit Delivery

  • Ensures optimal internal audit delivery to implement the approved audit plan for relevant clusters/geographies.
  • Maintains the quality of planning and timely delivery of audit engagements.
  • Identifies resources needed and addresses limitations for audit engagements.

 

Special Assignments

  • Investigation of frauds, irregularities or defalcations in order to establish a fact.
  • Specific management request.
  • On referred policies, documents, procedures etc.
  • Finalise and conclude the investigation, the special management requests and comments on policies and processes.

 

Enhancement of Audit Techniques

  • Drive the data analytics initiatives including finalisation of audit alerts. Ensure data is extensively used for various audit assignments.

 

Department initiatives

  • Department level initiatives, Provide inputs for Defining and Refining KPI’S
  • Proactive approach to efficiency, agility and effectiveness. 
  • KPI Delivery
  • Ensure team delivers consistently on defined KPI’S 

 

 

Candidate Experience & Qualifications

  • Professionally Qualified Chartered Accountant is a must plus Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification.
  • Audit of Trading, Automotive, Construction, Insurance, Real Estate and Service Sector.
  • Minimum 15 years in Operational and Financial Audits.
  • Leadership experience and capabilities
