The Director, Fleet Planning and Analysis leads the teams responsible for American Airlines’ fleet of more than 1400 aircraft, including long and short-term planning decisions, aircraft orders and retirements, and significant fleet related analytical decisions.

What you'll do
  • Work closely with Network Planning, Technical Operations, and Treasury on aircraft related decisions and analyses – including aircraft orders, retirements, configurations, etc.
  • Responsible for creating and publishing mainline and regional fleet plans and related reporting (aircraft counts and statistics, capital requirements, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive and detailed economic cost analyses of all aircraft types for use with fleet optimization decisions
  • Execute long-term and short-term fleet plan
  • Analyze lease extensions, returns, and aircraft and engine purchases

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or equivalent experience; Advanced Degree preferred
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles, with at least 3 years of leadership experience overseeing analytical functions in the airline/transportation industry

  • Strong understanding of airline/aircraft economics preferred
  • Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees
  • Extensive experience managing and implementing large, complex projects
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong problem solving, negotiation, and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities, and to redirect managers and teams toward new ideas and approaches in work methods
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and as a team member, handle multiple assignments, complete projects on time, and perform under pressure

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and written
  • Experience creating comprehensive, professional presentations and delivering effectively to senior management, enabling them to make appropriate decisions for the company’s future
  • Proven ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software products, such as Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
