The Managing Director of Onboard Dining & Service oversees American’s onboard dining programs and onboard service procedures, including setting strategic direction and operational implementation for American’s Mainline and American Eagle flights system wide.

What you'll do
  • Lead Product Design, Product and Service Delivery, and Catering Operations and Logistics teams
  • Design innovative onboard menus for all cabins on domestic, international, and regional routes that enhance the customer experience
  • Provide strategic leadership in the execution of large-scale initiatives including initial planning, financial analysis and justification, communication, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Manage global catering operations to ensure consistent and timely delivery of high quality products by partnering with vendors, airports, flight attendants, etc.
  • Oversee significant catering logistics to ensure the right equipment is at the right place at the right time with continuously improving efficiency
  • Continuously evaluate customer satisfaction trends and refine our product offering to improve CSS and JD Power scores
  • Oversee development of Flight Attendant onboard service procedures, including development and maintenance of the Onboard Service Manual
  • Engage Flight Attendants in many forums, including town halls and focus groups, to obtain feedback on improving customer and employee experience
  • Collaborate across many workgroups including the rest of Flight Service, Finance, Marketing, Procurement, IT, Corporate Communications, Premium Guest Services, Airport Operations, Flight, and American Eagle Operations
What you'll do, continued
  • Develop and enhance relationships with catering vendors and food service suppliers, who are critical to operational delivery
  • Represent American at industry associations and trade groups to stay current with industry trends and new products
  • Lead onboard revenue programs and budgets, including Food for Sale and other products
  • Lead galley packing efforts to ensure cart/container pack out is intuitive, efficient, flight attendant friendly, and safe
  • Create a culture in Onboard Dining & Service that models the American Airlines leadership values of caring, collaboration, development, results, and focus on the future,
  • Grow and build a diverse leadership team through coaching, development, and creating opportunities
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal ethics and integrity
  • 10 years of experience in leadership roles, overseeing large workgroups with cross-functional teams

    Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    •  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience; Advanced Degree preferred

    • Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging team members in multiple workgroups
    • Extensive experience managing and implementing large, complex projects
    • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills, with ability to lead a team with oversight of a 24/7 operation

    • Aptitude for innovating new ideas to elevate our customer experience

    • Ability to travel to visit stations and partners, as well as attend industry events
