This job is a member of the Operations Planning and Performance Team within the Integrated Operations Division. This position will be responsible for representing Operations in the company-wide collaborative effort to build American's global schedule including Mainline and Regional flights. Operations Planning serves as a central point of coordination amongst operational groups to enable conversations around our ability to successfully operate upcoming schedules and plan ahead for future operational challenges. This job is also responsible for building and maintaining tools for schedule evaluation and for recommending schedule improvements to contribute to a better operational performance.

What you'll do
  • Collaborates with operations departments, airports, and network planning in the evaluation and development of future schedules
  • Ensures operational concerns are validated, quantified and reviewed collaboratively with Network Planning
  • Performs analystical reviews of Operations Standards, with Operation groups, and network planning and works collaboratively to develop solutions which help the schedule meet the standards
  • Sets hub sequencing standards and turn distribution standards and review schedules for operaability constraints and limitations
  • Determines optimal aircraft space requirements
  • Idetifie and resolves high priority operations performance issues
  • Qualtifies and qualifies the anticipated gains to be achieved by the recommendations
  • Presents findings and recomendations to the operating groups and senior management
  • Partners with funcational owners (departments, airport leaders) to solve operationsal problems
  • Leads analytical projects across multiple departments on an ad hoc basis
  • Provides periodic reports to the operating departments focusing on trends and anomalies
  • Develops the next gen planning and analysis algorythms and systems, in partnership with OPP decision support team
  • Responds to ad hoc data/analysis requests from various departments, provide support as an analytical resource

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • The successful candidate will be a high energy, results driven leader who possesses strong oral and written communication skills, along with a collaborative mindset and the ability to be persuasive and influence others
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, or related field
  • Skilled in data analysis/modeling in Excel to answer business questions
  • Ability to effectively understand and analyze detailed information 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​MBA or MS in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics or related field
  • Strong presentation ability
  • 3 years airline experience with cross functional knowledge of the airline
  • Strong business acumen, technical learning/innovation management and a drive for results
  • Experience with airline schedule devleopment and/or knowledge of airline operational drivers
  • Proficient in the use of data retrieval languages such as SAS or SQL
