  • ​Responsible for developing, delivering and increasing the effectiveness of communications to over 28,000+ flight attendants on behalf of Flight Service.

What you'll do

  • Lead a team of special assignment flight attendants who are administrators of Flight Service's official social media platforms
  • Be responsible for a broad communication suite including digital/web, email, internal systems and social media to ensure that a remote workforce, and their leadership teams, stay plugged into mission-critical information, policy and procedure updates as well as commercial updates such as onboard dining, retail, entertainment and loyalty programs
  • Produce compelling and engaging content across multiple platforms, including video, podcasts and social media
  •  Handle day-to-day community management, including searching user-generated content
  • Partner with internal departments, community partners and third parties to develop projects, identify strategy and tactics, and manage the project from concept through implementation
  • Develop and execute creative ways to be culturally relevant by engaging team members in conversation about a variety of topics related to Flight Service and flight attendant profession
  • Operate cameras and other equipment to produce professional live and pre-recorded content for social and online outlets
  • Support crisis communication activities, including social media response, and recommends action plans for issue management 
  • Present on camera when needed
  • Travels as needed for on-location shoots, etc
  • Write and edit copy for a variety of internal communications channels under tight deadlines - adhering to American's editorial style and tone of voice
  • Proactively strategize, create and execute communication campaigns to engage employees, developing editorial plans that will effectively use Flight Service and American's existing communications channels in new, more collaborative ways
  • Work closely with company officers, senior leadership team and various business units throughout the airline to ensure Flight Service top of mind
  • Present complex information in a digestible way in a normal not formal tone
  • Advise and coordinate strategy for centralizing communications to numerous workgroups, fostering relationships with departmental communications leads
  • Build trust as a communications advisor to inspire confidence, share expertise and provide guidance to clients
  • Lead large scale special projects

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations or Strategic Communications or equivalent experience/training 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 2 years related professional experience in journalism and/or strategic communications
  • Mastery of AP style
  • 2 years of experience in social community management and knowledge of all social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn and YouTube

Skills, Licenses & Certification

  • Skills in Photography (iPhone, DSLR, lighting, framing), photo editing, color, retouching
  • Skills in Videography and the ability to capture video using an iPhone or DSLR and use basic editing app
  • Knowledge of post-production procedures, techniques, and standards
  • Ability to effectively mange time and schedules
  • Knowledge of and comfortable hosting and presenting live streams
  • Interest and passion in creative thinking and the power of social media
  • Knowledge of work ethic with the ability to turn projects quickly
  • Knowledge of influencer programs
  • Knowledge of project management and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels both verbally and written; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues around the company
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud including but not limited to Adobe Premiere, Spark, Photoshop, InDesign and Lightroom
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and perform repairs to audio and video equipment
