  • The Cargo Operations Control team (COC) provides leadership, guidance and training to cargo employees and vendors, ensures enforcement of all company and departmental procedures, including safety and security.

  • COC is the front line operational support team to Pilots, Line Crew Chiefs, Cargo Stations, the Contact Center and all other departments concerning cargo related issues and questions.
  • The role is a part of the Cargo Operations Center and Surface Logistics team within our Airports & Cargo Excellence group.

What you'll do

As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced.  Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

  • Coordinate system-wide cargo activities while actioning internal phone calls and emails to ensure quality performance, attention to detail, proactive communication, accountability and a drive for problem resolution during and after shipment lifecycle; encompassing Trucking, ULD Management, Dangerous Goods, Customs, Cargo Operation Control and Service Recovery. 
  • Compile investigations into causes of internal and external issues and customer complaints relating to Cargo. 
  • Enforce compliance of personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations. Collaborate with the Cargo Commercial team and other airline workgroups to ensure both an impeccable cargo operation and outstanding customer experience. 
  • Consult and coordinate with IOC and field stations to make operational decisions to support Cargo and protect revenue throughout the system. 

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Has a strong knowledge of American Airlines Cargo products and understanding of the cargo industry.
  • Has Cargo Terminal Operations and Dangerous Goods experience. 
  • Has high proficiency using the iCargo system.

  • Has strong multi-tasking, prioritization and organization skills.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills and provides superior quality customer service with maximum emphasis on problem resolution.
  • Has a keen attention to detail, solid analytical skills and demonstrates sound business judgment.
