What you'll do

  • Develop the strategy for and implement a best in industry global trade compliance program, including policies and procedures, training, risk assessment, audit controls, technology and systems, and other tools to streamline and ensure legal compliance for all business units
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior leadership and company personnel on applying trade compliance regulations
  • Develop company-wide awareness of the global trade compliance program
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with business leaders to ensure the trade compliance program is successfully implemented
  • Create and provide training and tools to help managers integrate import and export compliance into their business processes
  • Oversee business partner onboarding, restricted party screening, approval of export/import transactions, recordkeeping, and other processes and systems for trade compliance
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the controls to ensure compliance with trade laws and regulations
  • Ensure all required reports are completed accurately and submitted to the appropriate government agencies 
  • Ensure proper jurisdiction, classification, Schedule B, HTS, and valuation determinations for all exported and imported items
  • Administer all aspects of export license/authorization management
  • Manage the company’s customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • Conduct internal and/or external assessments/audits and manage government agency audits or inquiries
  • Serve as the primary interface with the Legal department attorneys responsible for providing legal advice and direction in interpreting trade laws and regulations 
  • Ability to travel independently, including overnight trips of varying duration, domestically and internationally, and ability to hold a passport allowing unrestricted travel

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree or equivalent training/experience
  • 7+ years of experience with U.S.-based customs and trade compliance laws and regulations, with at least 5 years in a management role at a multinational company
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing a global trade compliance program within a multinational organization
  • Expert understanding of and experience with U.S. trade regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR, CBP, OFAC, FCPA)
  • Knowledge of export/import logistics
  • Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” as defined in the ITAR and EAR
  • Ability to relocate, if not currently residing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Background in airline or aircraft industry
  • Licensed Customs Broker certificate

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, or ability to quickly become proficient
