About The Job

This role is part of the Brand Marketing team within the Integrated Marketing organization.  You will lead a team of content strategists and producers charged with driving preference for American Airlines. You’ll work to tell stories that align our brand and products to culture, helping to drive emotional connections and cultural resonance. Working alongside agencies and freelancers, you’ll create and optimize engaging content campaigns and activations for social media, paid digital ads, PR and using influencers.

This position is fast paced and demanding, but it’s also rewarding and fun. We need a strategic, creative people leader, who has the vision and drive to constantly challenge and improve.  

 

Specifically, you'll do the following:

  • Empowers, counsels and supports a large team of creative project managers
  • Leads and manages relationships of creative freelancers and agencies for creative, PR, influencers and media that support content marketing efforts
  • Builds team structure, processes and workflow; ensures timely production and efficient use of resources
  • Develops and maintains content calendar surrounding cultural moments relevant to the American brand and products
  • Leads shoots, post-production, video library and casting database; manages freelance videographers, editors and vendors
  • Consistently tests content & creative, and learns from performance
  • Continually seeks to improve team’s capabilities and skills through trainings and an environment of honest and transparent feedback
  • Champions team’s work and results throughout organization
  • Collaborates closely with partners like Campaigns, Brand & Diversity, Regional & International Marketing, Social Media, Global Engagement, Insights & Analytics and others
  • Ability to travel 20-40% of the time
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience/training required; emphasis in marketing, advertising, media, film, communications or journalism preferred
  • 6+ years of marketing experience required
  • People leadership or agency management experience required 
  • Budget management experience required
  • Extensive experience developing and leading marketing campaigns, preferably working on content and with influencers
  • Keen understanding of storytelling, brand activations, design and public relations
  • Knowledge of video lifecycle from concept to delivery
  • Experience leading large-scale photo and video shoots, and post-production
  • Experience working with media agencies and building media plans
  • Pulse on the latest creative trends, pop culture moments and social media best practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage many projects under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Marketing/ad agency experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Previous experience or interest in the travel or air travel industry
