• Successful applicants will be joining as a technical (squad) lead for the AirPortal team, which is part of American Airlines’ Business Analytics group.
AirPortal consists of three major products:
• AirPortal is an analytics front end application for American Airlines Operations domain with over 30,000 users.
• Special Service Request handles wheelchairs and unaccompanied minor requests at the airports
• Reference Data Management aims to handle all reference data within the company and includes data governance and ETL capabilities.
• Team members are responsible for both development and enhancement of both front-end and integration services using a variety of development tools offering an opportunity to obtain significant UI, integration, data streaming, web service and message-oriented middleware experience
• Provides technical leadership to a team of Software Developers, developing enhancements to Off-The-Shelf products as well as custom built applications
• Support and development of multiple Java, Angular, .Net, and JavaScript applications, including stand-alone applications and web services
• Support and deploy to Windows on-premise, Linux on-premise, cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) environments
• Provides leadership in projecting software and hardware requirements, including creation and administration of Agile user stories for the squad and team.
• Provides an escalation point for internal customers, and development team members.
• Acts as a proxy Software Architect and Developer, in addition to personnel management responsibilities
• Works with Production Support staff to define implementation plans, ensure secondary support is available 24x7, and to define and implement best practice regarding production system administration
• Works with Software Architects to establish development and deployment standards, and to ensure adherence to technology platform decisions made by the Architect team
• Works with internal IT teams to establish goals, processes and technology initiatives; develops and maintains project roadmaps, and works with the team to define future technology strategies
• Utilizes the business area and technology roadmaps to provide the business area with feasibility studies, time and cost estimates and to establish and implement new/revised applications systems and programs
• Develops and maintains good working relationships with management and staff in various areas of technologies
• Participates in strategy planning, process refinement and organizational development activities department wide
• Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods
• Manages assigned resources to ensure objectives are met on time and within budget, completing required objectives within aggressive timelines
• Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the activities of the applications systems and programming section
• Oversees large/complex software engineering projects in regard to development initiatives
• Participates in preparation of capital budget estimates for projects and resources
• Participates in preparation and management of departmental budget
• Participates in recruiting, selecting, and orienting new staff to the team
• Facilitates employee development through creation of goals, setting expectations, giving performance feedback, and providing development opportunities

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- At least five years Software development experience with at least two years developing in both UI-level and controller-level and/or web service applications.
- Experience with developing in a Microsoft Azure environment
- Experience with resource management in an Object-Oriented Software Development environment
- Proven project management and project management methodology experience, including technology delivery methods
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- Microsoft Azure Certifications in Administration and/or Development
- 8+ years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies
- 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership
- Airline industry experience
