The Long-Range Planning organization is part of the broader Revenue organization, at the center of the strategic direction and the everyday functioning of the world’s largest airline. Our responsibilities range from forecasting revenue and capacity to analyzing and optimizing the needs and deployment of strategic assets such aircraft and terminal infrastructure, identifying optimal seating configurations (LOPAs) for our aircraft, analyzing partnerships with other carriers aimed at building our inorganic network, and from managing available-to-schedule aircraft counts to building the 5-Year network plan and schedule. All in close collaboration with Network Planning, Revenue Management, Alliances, Finance, Crew Planning, Fleet Planning, Tech Ops, Regionals, Marketing and others.

What you'll do

Analyst/ Sr. Analyst position in the Alliances and Partnerships Strategy and Finance team.  Primary responsibilities will include financial oversight, ongoing negotiation and structuring of AA’s Alliances Responsibilities will involve work such as:

  • Maintaining a working relationship with AA’s Joint Business and Partners: British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas Airways, Alaska Airlines, and JetBlue
  • Calculating transfer payments and related settlements between the Joint Business and other partners
  • Supporting the development of new partners
  • Negotiating new concepts, initiatives or unresolved matters
  • Presenting and explaining financial settlements and complex Alliance Share Agreement concepts to internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organizations
  • Ad hoc analysis of other aspects of the Joint Business Agreement including capacity governance, frequent flyer program activity, etc.
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts with internal and external counsel
  • Regular interaction with many other AA departments, including: Network Planning, AAdvantage, Revenue Management, Accounting, Legal, Sales and Finance

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are required with an emphasis on financial modeling
  • Structurally minded with ability to document processes
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional groups with maturity and confidence
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and changing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • International travel required
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency required

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • MBA or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of corporate database and systems (e.g., MIRS, APAS,DIIO, MIDT, SAP) desirable
  • Experience in RM, Sales Planning, FP&A, Capacity Planning or similar preferred
