What you'll do

As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced.  Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

  • Analyzes aircraft structural, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionics, and power plant system problems, and makes recommendations for corrective actions by providing oral and written instructions through an MOC Request/ATBT entered into SAFE System.

  • Debriefs flight crews and maintenance on in-flight and post-flight discrepancies.

  • Coordinates technical information to flight crews during in-flight operations utilizing approved means including ARINC, SATCOM, ACARS, company frequencies and other approved means.

  • Reviews aircraft log records, and analyzes all available information for the performance/condition of an aircraft system component, or the On Wing management programs or Engines and Auxiliary Power Plant Units.

  • Recommends that functional tests are conducted for indications and causes of equipment malfunctions.

  • Coordinates findings with appropriate personnel to resolve maintenance problems.

  • Coordinates parts movement and manpower required for field trips to facilitate the timely repair of outof-service aircraft.

  • Remains cognizant of all out-of-service aircraft, providing updates to the MOC MOD and fleet manager.

  • Must be able to safely perform the following functions while providing on-site assistance and guidance in the field:
    • Bend, stoop, and crawl to work in tight, restricted spaces including fuel cells and aircraft belly areas
    • Work up to eighty (80) feet above ground on tail and fuselage stations of aircraft on various kinds of docking structures
    • Move and climb stairs, ladder and scaffolding
    • Work in a high noise-level environment
    • Tolerate dust, jet fumes, and exposure to potentially dangerous chemicals
All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Applicable valid driver’s license as required by local authorities
  • Minimum five (5) years Aviation Maintenance Technician experience on heavy jet aircraft
  • Minimum three (3) years Aviation Maintenance Technician experience on heavy jet aircraft for IAM positions
  • Knowledge of Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Extended Twin Operations (ETOPS); General Procedures Manual (GPM)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days-off
  • Work overtime on short notice or when operationally necessary
  • Ability to travel on short notice for support of Out of Service aircraft
  • Report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA)
  • Must pass initial and random Drug and Alcohol screening
  • Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges
  • Must be able to act professionally under stressful situations when dealing with other departments and customers

  • Extensive Avionics and/or Maintenance Control Technician experience preferred

  • Extensive Aircraft systems troubleshooting experience preferred
