This Engineer, as part of the Engineering department, works with a team to establish preventative aircraft maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements. Key Duties In the entry level: - Under supervision, develops repairs, alterations, and maintenance specifications and provides engineering assistance to all departments within the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division. - Provide input into preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements. - Review service bulletins, service letters, and airworthiness directives and develops actions required. - Review reliability data and implement engineering actions. - Become familiar with part interchangeability, configuration, effectivity - Develop and revise ASA engineering drawings In the intermediate level: - Develop repairs, alterations, and maintenance specifications and provides engineering assistance to all departments within the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) division - Establishes preventative maintenance procedures and reliability improvements in the interest of safety, cost reduction, and fleet maintenance improvements - Review service bulletins, service letters, and airworthiness directives and develops actions required. - Review and approve PMA (Part Manufacturer Approval) parts - Provide approval for part configuration ? interchangeability, installation and effectivity. - Develop and revise ASA engineering drawings - Able to discuss and demonstrate compliance to FAA part 121 and 25 regulations - Review and maintains project tasks, schedules and define actions and deliverables - Review reliability data to ensure effectiveness of maintenance programs and to develop preventive maintenance actions In the senior level: - Authors engineering control (EC) documents (e.g., engineering orders, engineering authorizations, fleet campaigns, etc.) to direct the required incorporation of modifications, improvements, and disposition of line troubleshooting - Provide subject matter expertise to other M&E and Alaska Airlines department to achieve division goals and objectives - Provide Interior Maintenance Shop with troubleshooting assistance for interior part issues resulting a prompt return to service condition - Manage cross divisional engineering related tasks, schedule, change request and deliverables within a timely manner - Subject matter expert, reviews and interprets OEM IPC, AMM, Engineering Drawings, CMM, and Maintenance Programs documents - Review and stay abreast of Service Bulletins, Service Letters, Airworthiness Directives and provide required actions - Develops and revises engineering drawings Job-Specific Skills, Experience & Education Entry Level - Bachelor's degree with a focus in aerospace or mechanical engineering or related area, or 2 years of engineering or related experience - Aircraft Interiors experience - Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, operating policies, and procedures - Detail-oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task and work independently with self-directed and decision-making confidence and limited guidance in fast paced environment - Analytical and problem-solving skills Intermediate Level - 2 years of experience in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or related area - Aircraft Interiors experience - Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree - Theoretical and practical knowledge of aircraft interiors (Airbus A320 and Boeing 737NG preferred). - Strong Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, operating policies, and procedures - Strong analytical and complex problem-solving ability, particularly in identifying fleet issues and trends. - Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written and listening), presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation - Detail-oriented and highly organized with ability to multi-task and work independently with self-directed and decision-making confidence and limited guidance in fast paced environment Senior Level - 5 years of engineering or related experience - Aircraft Interiors experience - Bachelor of Science with a focus in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or a related discipline degree or 2 years of addition training/experience in lieu of this degree - Expert Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, operating policies, and procedures - Knowledge of FAA part 121 and 25 regulations - Proficient understanding of ATA 25 and 38 systems - Knowledge of A320 and B737 aircraft - Excellent communication skills: verbal (both informal working teams and formal executive presentations), and in clear, concisely written documents - Detail-oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with self-directed decision-making confidence and limited guidance in a fast-paced environment - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) - Advanced proficiency with AutoCad Job-Specific Leadership Expectations - Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be kind-hearted, deliver performance, and be rem **START YOUR NEW JOURNEY NOW** Submit your application by 09/28/2020 11:59pm (Pacific Time).
