- This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division
- Responsible for providing technical direction and leadership in regards to the design, development, and deployment of solutions within our customer base. The technical lead comes up with innovative solutions for business and technical problems, creates and maintains technical specifications, as well as anticipates and acts upon issues that arise, providing alternate approaches and solutions, communicates decisions clearly, and sets the standard for highest quality of work.
What you'll do
- Accountable for delivery including velocity, continuous improvement, practices and principles (e.g., TDD, pairing, etc.)
- Defines squad skill requirements with input from architect and in conjunction with other Squad Leads
- Interviews and selects developers
- Helps articulate and raise team blockers
- Continually evaluate teams skills
- Identifies and requests changes in squad composition as issues arise or deficiencies are noticed
- Escalates business issues to the Program Manager when required
- Identifies and leads strategies for technical interdependencies with other teams/products/services working with the architect
- Leads design and coding decisions by the Squad; engages help from Architects for architectural decisions and UX Designers
- Technical lead to developers and makes key technical decisions. Responsible for code quality, test coverage, and adherence to standards
- Mentors developers to increase their skills, including coaching future Squad Leaders
- Pairs with developers to develop code, mentors on technical practices, addresses difficult technical issues, evaluates Squad developer skills, and proactively recommends growth paths for Squad Developers, acts on growth paths for Squad developers in conjunction with Delivery Manager
- Understands and can lead (as needed) ceremonies including Inception, Iteration Planning Meetings, standups, retrospectives
- Leads team in evolving agile and technical practices
- Supports the Product Owner in running playbacks
- Partners with the PO to lead the work of the squad, serving as the definitive technical and process leader
- Helps ensure team conducts Retros, document action items, and track progress against those action items
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 5 years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies
- Requires 7+ years of application development experience, including 5+ years of Java SE experience and
- 3+ years of Java EE experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 8+ years of experience delivering SDLC solutions using ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies
Requires 7+ years of application development experience, including 5+ years of Java SE experience and - 3+ years of Java EE experience 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership
- Airline industry experience, including Sabre, business processes, and supporting technologies
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Develop to coding standards and adhere to best practices and security guidelines
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and UML is preferred
- Experience with Java, J2EE, Spring SOA, Web Services, JDBC, JPA, JAXB, EJB, XML, IBM Websphere application server, Oracle and UNIX
- Experience with either Angular or React, Java Spring Framework, microservices, cloud technology
- Must be familiar with Relational Databases such as Oracle or SQL Server
- Experience in TDD (test driven development) and other agile practices desired
- Experience with diagnostics / testing tools (Dynatrace, LISA, SOAP UI) preferred
- Must have experience consuming Web Services and implementing Web Services; should be familiar with messaging and SOA technologies; require knowledge of general architecture principles Networking knowledge (Sockets, TCP/IP, UDP)
- Preferred understanding of (and be able to help coordinate) infrastructure related tasks such as: server administration (oversee account management and deployment of patches), database administration (plan, coordinate, manage implementation of short and long term strategy of upgrade paths and service levels), and security (identification of security risks and remediation, manage responses to security risks, provide practical security best-practice guidance on networking initiatives)
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
- Must have strong interpersonal skills to provide coaching to junior team members
- Position requires occasional 24/7 on-call support
- Ability to generate technical roadmaps
- Experience in DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including TDD (test driven development), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with team members, customers, and external groups, as well as working in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed resources
- Ability to foster and maintain productive working relationships with 3rd party vendors, including Sabre and DXC
