  • ​This job is a member of the Credit Union Team within the American Airlines Credit Union.
  • Responsible for conducting, analyzing and interpreting research pertaining to federal rules, regulations and statutory requirements; assisting the Compliance Manager with ensuring American Airlines Credit Union is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

What you'll do

  • Assists and interacts with NCUA examiners, and internal and external consultants and auditors, during compliance reviews, examinations and audits, including the Bank Secrecy Act reviews throughout the year
  • Coordinates quarterly compliance reviews and assists in maintaining all documentation
  • Conducts follow-up on findings identified during compliance assessments, federal examinations and internal audits or reviews
  • Gathers and analyzes research and serves as a resource for responding to compliance related questions received from various departments within the Credit Union
  • Reviews, revises, and develops forms, documents, agreements and disclosures as well as procedures and processes regarding compliance matters to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Performs compliance research related to all relevant laws and regulations affecting the Credit Union
  • Provides accurate compliance information and assists the training department with content and development of required compliance training
  • Maintains and understands compliance to ensure that work complies with Credit Union established policies, procedures, practices, processes and applicable regulations
  • Disseminates to and works with all levels of management, support staff and vendors to facilitate understanding of compliance in its actual application
  • Participates in meetings or discussions related to new or changes to existing system, product, service, and process changes based on regulatory changes and credit union-initiated projects
  • Reviews and approves marketing and advertising materials for compliance and makes recommendations of necessary revisions
  • Consults with internal and external legal counsel to maintain compliance as needed
  • Ensures the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality
  • Travels to various locations as required
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions
  • Required to obtain certified compliance accreditation within 12 months

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding financial institutions or previous regulatory compliance background
  • Experience in computer research

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines pre-hire compliance checks
  • Must have an acceptable credit history, which will be verified
  • Knowledge of American Airlines Federal Credit Union operations and systems
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate regulatory information, including complex regulations
  • Knowledge of applicable resources for conducting research pertaining to federal credit union laws and regulations
  • Advanced understanding of federal laws and regulations applicable to financial institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions based on information gathered and reviewed with ability to produce concise and organized feedback
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and non-management verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-direction, independent judgment, show initiative and flexibility, when warranted, and be detail oriented
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organization skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and change priorities in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks, meet strict deadlines and be capable of achieving results in a high-pressured environment
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge resulting in strong decision-making skills
